ORDINANCE No. 3647 <br /> <br />BY Mr. Lajcak <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE fixing the salaries of employees of the ~Division of Fire, <br />Department of Public Safety, and repealing all ordinances inconsistent herewith. <br />WHEREAS, an emergency exists for the immediate preservation of the public property, <br />health and safety, and to provide for the usual daily operation of a Municipal <br />~'~partment, to-wit: t~lvision of Fire, Department of Public Safety. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Lakewood, State of Ohio, two-thirds <br />of all members thereof concurring: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the Division of Fire, Bepartment of Public Safety of the City <br />of Lakewood, shall be composed of the follo&~ug officers and employees who shall <br />receive~ the respective salaries hereinafter provided, payable in semi-monthly <br />installments out of the SafetyDivision of the General Fund o~ the City. <br /> (a) One (l~i Chief ~Salary, Three Thousand Six Hundred Dollars($3,600.O0) <br /> per annum. <br /> <br /> (b) Two (2) Assistant ~hiefs mSalary, Three ~ousand One Hundred Forty- <br /> ~ Emght Dollars ($3,148.00)i per annum. <br /> <br /> (o) Four (4) Captains --Salary, Two Thousand Six Hundred Forty Dollars <br /> ($2,640,00) per annum. <br /> <br /> (d) Six (6) Lieutenants ~Salary, Two Thousand Five Hundred Twenty Dollars <br /> ($2,520.00) per annum. <br /> <br /> (e) Not to exceed fifty-six (56) firemen who, according to grades hereinafter <br /> set forth, upon appointment or promotion by the Director <br /> of Public Safety, shall receive salaries, as follows. <br /> (1) First Grade --Salary, Two Thousand Three Hundred <br /> Forty Dollars ($2,340.00) per annum. <br /> <br /> (2) Second Grade --Salary, One Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty <br /> IOllars ($1,980.00) per annum. <br /> <br /> (f) O~e (1) Clerk-Stenngrapher~Salary, One Thousand Seven Hundred Forty <br /> Dollars ($1,740.00) per annum. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The Shier of'the Division of F~e, upon~approval of the Director of <br /> Public Safety, is hereby authorized to detail two (2) firemen in charge of the <br /> Fire Alarm System and one (1) fireman as mmchanic, who, while so detailed, shall <br /> receive a salary of Two Thousand Six Hundred Forty Dollars ($2,640.00) each per <br /> annum. Firemen so detailed in charge of the Fire Alarm System or as mechanic may <br /> at any time. be detailed back to the duties and pay of a regolar fireman. <br /> <br /> Section 3. The regular firemen shall be divided into first and second grades, as <br /> follows: <br /> (a)~ The First Grade shall consist of regular firemen who have continuously <br /> served in the Division of Fire of the City of Lakevood for one (1) full <br /> year or who have equal training and experience in the Division of Fire <br /> of some other City, which, in the judgment of the Director of Public Safety <br /> and the Chief of the Fire Department of the City of Lakewood, would <br /> warrant them to consider such firemen as a First Grade man. <br /> <br /> (b) The Second G~ade shall consist of regular f~re~en who are serving their <br /> first year in the Division of Fire of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 4. ~en by reason of continuous service a fireman, passes from a lower <br /> to a higher grade he shall be eligible for promOtion, but there shall be <br /> no increase in his salary until he has been d~ly promoted by the Mayor. <br /> Ail appointments, promotions, suspensions or removals shall be in <br /> accordance with the Civil Service law and the rules of the Division.. <br /> Section 5.
