Fahrenbach MY ~.~RGENCY ORDII,¥fl~CE authorizing the settlement, adjustment and comqoromise of all lawful actions, causes of action, clai~,~ and demands in favor of or agsinstthe City of Lakewood, for Fifty Dollars (~50.00) or less. ~, from time to time small clain~ arise in favor of or against the City of Lakewood, and ~HE ,RgAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency in that, to save the City unnecessary delay and ex!pense, it authorizes the settle~n~ and adjust- ment of such claims promptly and provides for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAIning) BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CI~ OF LAK~©OD: SECTION l: That all small unliquidated claims, actions, causes of action snd demands in favor of or against the City of Lakewood shall be referred to the ~.~ayor, the Chairman of the Council Conm~t- tee on Claims, and the Director of Law, and they are hereby authorized to consider such claims and to settle, adjust and com- promise ~l lav~ful actions, causes of action, claims and demands in favor of or against the City of Lakewood, providing such settlement, adjustment and compromise may be effected for the sum of Fifty Dollars ($~O.00) or less for each such claim. SECTION 2: ~nat the Director of Finance, upon approval of the co~oromise aud settlement of any such action, cause of action, claim or demand against the City of Lak~wood for the sun.~ of Fifty Dollars (~50.00) or less by the L~yor, the Chairman of the Council Com~.~ttee on Claims snd the Director of La~z, is hereby authorized and directed to pay the amount so approved, upon obtaining satis- factory release and charge the amount to the Gener~ Fund ~ Dmmges Paid by City; and the Director of Finance is hereby author- ized and directed to accept p~ymsnt of any such claim in the favor of the City of L~kewood amounting to the stm of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) or less upon the approval of such settlen~nt, adjustment and co~oromise thereof by the }.!ayor~ Chairman of the Council Com- mittee on Claims and the Director of Law, and to execute proper re- ceipt or release therefor, to credit any such amount to the proper fund. SECTION ~: That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an en~r- gency ~asure for the reasons stated in the prea~ble hereof and, provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force i,~:~,~:ediately upon its adoption and ~pproval by the },[ayor.
