J • <br /> Y , <br /> ORUI2dANCE N0. 3966 by Mr, Vickery <br /> AN EBdEF.GENCY ORDINAACE creating positions and fixing the salaries of <br /> employees in the Division o£ Fire, Department of Public Safety, beginning <br /> April 1, 191-t7. and repealing Ordinance No. 3881 adopted February 26, 19~t0 and <br /> all other ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith. <br /> bw'HER~.F.S, an emergency exists to provide for the immediate preservation <br /> of the public property, health and safety and to provide for the usual daily <br /> operation of a municipal department, to-xitr Division of Fires Department of <br /> Public Safety, nox, thereforey <br /> ~BE IT ORIAINED BY THE COUNCIIAF THE CITY OF LAKEt9O0D, STATE OF OHI02 <br /> Section 1, That the Division of Fires Department of Public Safety of <br /> the City of Lakewood, shall be composed of the folloxing officers and employees <br /> xho shall receive the respective salaries hereinafter provided, payable out of the <br /> Safety Division of the General Fund, in equal semi-monthly installments. <br /> <br /> - (a) One (1) Chief - Salary - $3,738.00 par annum. <br /> b) Two (2) Assistant Chiefs- Salary - $3,270.00 each, per annum. <br /> c) Ten (lA) Captains - Salary - $2,71y2.00 each, per annum. <br /> d)• Npt to exceed fifty-si.x (56) Firemen, xho acoording to grades <br /> hereinafter set forth, upon appointment or promotion by the <br /> Director of Public Safety shall receive salaries, as folloxs: <br /> (1) First Grade - Salary - $ 2,1130.00 each, per annum <br /> (2) Second Grade - - $ 2,058.00 e8ch~ per annum <br /> (3) Third Grade - - a 1,866.00 each, per annum <br /> (e) One (1) Clerk- Stenographer - Salary - ,~p1.,800.00 per annwn. <br /> Section 2. The Chief of the Division of Fire, upon approval of the <br /> Director of Public Safety, is hereby authorized to detail txo (2) firemen in charge <br /> of the Fire Alarm System and one (1) fireman as mechanic, xho, xhile so detailed, <br /> shall receive a salary of $2~71l2.00 each, per annum. <br /> Firemen regularly detailed in charge of the Fire Alarm System <br /> or as mechanic may at any time be detailed back to the duties and salary of a <br /> regular fireman, <br /> Section 3. The regular firemen shall be divided into first, second and <br /> third grades, as followsi <br /> (a) The First Grade shall consist of Firemen xho have continuously served <br /> in the Division of Fire txo (2) full years or more or xho have equal training and <br /> experience in the Division of Fire of some other city, xhich in the Sudgment of the <br /> Director of Public Safety and the Chief of the Division of Fire of the City of <br /> I:akewood xould xarrant them to consider such Firemen as~first grade men. <br /> (b) The Second Grade shall consist of Firemen xho have served continuously <br /> in the Division of Fire of the City of Lakewood for more than one (1} year but less <br /> than txo (2) years. <br /> (c) The Third Grade shall consist of Firemen xho are serving their first <br /> year in the Division of Fire of the City of Lakewood. <br /> Section 1t. Ydhen a Fireman becomes eligible for promotion, there shall be <br /> no increase in his salary until he has been duly promoted by the ldayor. Otherise~ <br /> all appointments, promotions, suspensions or removals shall be`;,3n accordance xith <br /> the civil service lax and the rules of the division. <br /> Section 5. Until permanent appointments have. been made, the mayor may <br /> make temporary appointments of acting officials or employees for said position. <br /> <br />
