(c) It shall be unlawful for any person, other than a blind person, while on any <br />street to carry in a raised or extended position a white cane or a white cane with a <br />red tip. <br /> <br /> Section 40. (a) Every pedestrian crossing a street within the City of Lakewood <br />at any point other than within a marked crosswalk or within an unmarked crosswalk at <br />an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to all traffic operating lawfully upon <br />the street. <br /> <br /> (b) Any pedestrian crossing a street at a point where pedestrian tunnel or ,over- <br />head pedestrian crossing has been provided shall yield the right-of-way to all traffic <br />upon the street. <br /> <br /> (c) Notwithstanding the provisions of this section every operator of a vehicle, <br />street car or trackless trolley shall exercise due care to avoid colliding ~ith any <br />~edestrian upen any street. <br /> <br /> Section 41. (a) Pedestrians shall move, whenever practicable, upon the right <br />half of crosswalks° <br /> <br /> (b) Pedestrians shall not step into nor upon a public street without looking in <br />both directions to see what is approaching. <br /> <br /> Section 42. (a) V;here usable walks or paths parallel the street, pedestrians <br />shall not walk in, along or upon the vehicular traveled portion of such street, except <br />as provided in this ordinanceo <br /> <br /> (b) Where usable walks or paths are not provided parallel to the'street, pedes- <br />trians may walk along or upon the traveled portion of such street and where practicable <br />shall face the approaching traffic, and shall exercise due care to avoid approaching <br />traffic. <br /> <br /> (c) No pedestrian shall cross a street within the City of Lakewood at a place <br />other than a crosswalk except in oases where crosswalks are an unreasonable distance <br />aparte <br /> <br /> Section'43o (a) No person while on a street outside of a safety zone shall <br />solicit a ride from the driver of any vehicle. <br /> <br /> (b) No person shall hang onto, or ride on the outside of the rear end of any <br />motor vehicle, street car or trackless trolley while moving upon a street except <br />mechanics or test engineers making repairs er adjustments. <br /> <br /> (c) No operator shall knowingly permit any person to hang onto, or ride on the <br />outside of any motor vehicle, street car or trackless trolley while moving upon a <br />street, except mechanics or test engineers making repairs or adjustments. <br /> <br /> Section 44. The provisions of this ordinance applicable to bicycles shall apply <br />whenever a bicycle is operated upon any street or upon any path set aside for the ex-~ <br />clusive use of bicycles subject to those e~ceptions stated herein° <br /> <br /> Section 45. (a) A person operating a bicycle or motorcycle shall not ride <br />other than upon the permanent and regular seat attached thereto, nor carry any other <br />person upon such bicycle or motorcycle other than upon a firmly attached and regular <br />seat thereon nor shall any person ride upon a bicycle or motorcycle other than as above <br />authorized, <br /> <br /> (b) No bicycle or motorcycle shall be used to carry more persons at one time <br />than the number for which it is designed and equipped, <br /> <br /> Section 464 No person riding upon any bicycle, motorcycle, coaster, roller <br />skates, sled or toy vehicle shall attach the same or himself to any street car, track- <br />less trolley or vehicle upon a streeto <br /> <br /> Section 47. Persons riding bicycles or motorcycles upon a street shall ride <br />not more than two abreast except on paths or parts of streets set aside for the ex- <br />clusive use of bicycles or motorcycles, <br /> <br /> <br />
