ORDINANCE N0~ 4831 BY Mr. Vick~ry <br /> <br /> AN E~RGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Director of Finance <br />to pay the sum of $81~10 to Louise Barnum, as a moral claim. <br /> WHEREAS Patrolman Vernon F~ Barnum died December 20. 1951 while on vacation <br />from his employment as authorized by Ordinances 4691 and 4657, which vacation <br />period would not have expired until and including December 29, 1951; and <br /> WHEREAS Patrolman Barnum was paid salary to and including December 20, <br />1951; neither his widow or estate was paid any a~ount by way or in lieu of compen- <br />sation for said vacation period following December 20, 1951; Ordinance No. 4691 <br />provides that members of the Division of Police shall be given vacation with pay <br />in ~accordance with Section 5 of Ordinance No~ 4657; and pursuant thereto, had <br />Patrolman Barnum survived, he would have been paid an additional sum up to and <br />including December 29, 19~l, the sum of $97e50 less with~olding tax of $12,50 <br />and pension deduction of $3.90 or a net ~ount of $81.10; and <br /> V~EREAS this Council deems this Ordinance to be an emergency in that it <br />provides for the immediate payment to Louise Barnum ef the amoun~ which Patrolman <br />Barnum would otherwise have received had he not been deceased and in that it <br />provides for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAEEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That the Director of' Finance is hereby authorized and di- <br /> rected to forthwith pay to Louise Barnum, widow of Patrolman Vernon Fo Barnum, <br /> the sum of $81.10 as a moral claim and to charge the same to Appropriation 3265-- <br /> General Miscellaneous~ <br /> <br /> Section 2. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br /> for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and, provided it receives the <br /> affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take <br /> effect and be in force Immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />Adopted: May 5, 1952 <br /> <br />George F~ Quinn <br /> President <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />A.
