65-68 Compensation for hourly employees

An employee holding a position in any of the above classifications may from time to time be assigned ~owork in a higher classification, and such employee shall receive for such temporary work the compensation provided herein for such higher classification. Such additional compensation shall not be paid to Building Maintenance Men, whose hourly rate includes performance of all work assigned. Section 3. Whenever the terms "Class A," "Class B" and "Class C" are used in this ordinance, such classifications shall be determined by the appointing authority on the basis of experience and performance. Section 4. The Director of Public Works may appoint such addi- tional hourly employees in the several divisions as may be required from time to~ time on a temporary basis, at the rate of compensation fixed herein for said classification. Provided, however, that such temporary employees provided for herein, shall be classed as temporary and shall not be eligible for the benefits provided in Sections 143.01 to 143.08, bo~ inclusive, of the Codified Ordinances, for full-time permanent hourly employees. Section 5. All compensation provided for herein shall be paid in equal installments every two weeks. Section 6. That this ordinance is hereby declared robe an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof, and pro- vided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor, and Ordinance No. 50-67 adopted August 22, 1967 and all other ordinances or parts or ordinances inconsistent herewithshall be and are hereby repealed.
