ORDINANCE NO. 64-69 By:Messrs. Usher, Ward, Wendlin~, Gaydos, Graber, Huffman, Kelley AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to supplement the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood by enacting new Section 135.091, to provide for the payment of tuition for college courses taken by members of the Division of Police, with the approval of the Chief of Police. WHEREAS, This ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal depart- ment; now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IAt~OOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood be and the same is hereby supplemented by enacting new Section 135o091, to read as follows: Section 135.091 Education; Tuition With the approval of the Chief of Police, members of the Division of Police may take accredited college courses relating to law enforcement. Members shall be reimbursed full tuition expenses by the City provided, however, that 'the member shall have first made application to the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration of the United States Department of Justice, for a direct grant and failed to receive same'and, provided further, that such member shall receive a grade of "C" or the equivalent, upon completion of each ~ourse for which reimbursement is requested° Section 2° That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immedia/~ly~ upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor. /! _ Pr~ident Approved: Mayor
