ORDINANCE NO. 64-69 <br /> <br />By:Messrs. Usher, Ward, Wendlin~, Gaydos, <br /> Graber, Huffman, Kelley <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to supplement the Administrative <br />Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood by enacting <br />new Section 135.091, to provide for the payment of tuition for <br />college courses taken by members of the Division of Police, with <br />the approval of the Chief of Police. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, This ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety <br />and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal depart- <br />ment; now therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IAt~OOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Administrative Code of the Codified <br />Ordinances of the City of Lakewood be and the same is hereby <br />supplemented by enacting new Section 135o091, to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 135.091 Education; Tuition <br /> <br />With the approval of the Chief of Police, members of <br />the Division of Police may take accredited college <br />courses relating to law enforcement. Members shall <br />be reimbursed full tuition expenses by the City <br />provided, however, that 'the member shall have first <br />made application to the Law Enforcement Assistance <br />Administration of the United States Department of <br />Justice, for a direct grant and failed to receive <br />same'and, provided further, that such member shall <br />receive a grade of "C" or the equivalent, upon <br />completion of each ~ourse for which reimbursement is <br />requested° <br /> <br /> Section 2° That this ordinance is hereby declared to <br />be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble <br />hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds <br />of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in <br />force immedia/~ly~ upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor. <br /> /! <br /> <br /> _ Pr~ident <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
