ORDINANCE NO. 71-70 BY: Messrs. Kelley, Usher, Ward, <br /> Wendling, Gaydos, Graber, Huffman <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE repealing Sections 133.01 through <br />133.99 inclusive, of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordin- <br />ances of the City of Lakewood relating to private police commissions <br />and the rules and regulations regarding same. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, .effective JanUary 1, 1970 the State of Ohio has <br />provided for the licensing of private investigators and the regis- <br />tering of their employees, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, no person shalI engage in the business of private <br />investigation unless he is licensed as provided in Chapter 4749 of <br />the Revised Code of the State of Ohio, and therefore, there no <br />longer exists any need or necessity for the City to regulate this <br />class of business, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, one-third of the license fee paid to the Depart- <br />ment of Commerce of the State of Ohio is returned to the City where- <br />in is located the principal place of business of each licensee, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate~ preservation of public health, and safety <br />and for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCiL OF THE CITY ~OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: ' <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Sections 133.01 to 133.99 'inclusive of <br />the Administrative'cOde of the Codified Ordinances of the City of <br />Lakewood be and the sameare hereby repealed. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this ordinance is declared to be an <br />emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all mem- <br />bers elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immedi- <br />ately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor. <br /> <br /> ' /~??
