ORDINANCE NO. 71-70 BY: Messrs. Kelley, Usher, Ward, Wendling, Gaydos, Graber, Huffman AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE repealing Sections 133.01 through 133.99 inclusive, of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordin- ances of the City of Lakewood relating to private police commissions and the rules and regulations regarding same. WHEREAS, .effective JanUary 1, 1970 the State of Ohio has provided for the licensing of private investigators and the regis- tering of their employees, and WHEREAS, no person shalI engage in the business of private investigation unless he is licensed as provided in Chapter 4749 of the Revised Code of the State of Ohio, and therefore, there no longer exists any need or necessity for the City to regulate this class of business, and WHEREAS, one-third of the license fee paid to the Depart- ment of Commerce of the State of Ohio is returned to the City where- in is located the principal place of business of each licensee, and WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate~ preservation of public health, and safety and for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCiL OF THE CITY ~OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: ' Adopted: Section 1. That Sections 133.01 to 133.99 'inclusive of the Administrative'cOde of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood be and the sameare hereby repealed. Section 2. That this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all mem- bers elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immedi- ately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor.
