ORDINANCE NO. 46-71 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Usher, Ward, Wendling. <br /> Gaydos, Graber, Huffman <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE declaring the name Of the street located in the City of <br />Lakewood and now known as Highland Avenue to be changed to West ll7th Street and <br />making further provisions relative thereto. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the street which is the boundary line between the City of Cleveland <br />and the City'of Lakewood, is now designated'by two names, to wit, West ll7th Street <br />and Highland Avenue, which for this and other reasons tends to cause confusion, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, petitions have been presented to Council bypersons owning lots <br />on said street and the Planning' Commission requesting that the name be changed, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a public hearing was held by the Zoning and Planning Committee of <br />the Lakewood City council on May 17, 1971 to consider the request to change the name <br />of Highland Avenue to West ll7th Street, which Committee has recommended that the name <br />be changed, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, upon hearing and due consideration of such petitions and requests, <br />this Council hereby determine% as hereinafter indicated, that such change should be <br />made, now, therefore, · <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council, upon hearing, and being satisfied that there <br />is good cause for such change of name, that it will not be detrimental to the general <br />interest and that such change should be made, hereby provides, directs and declares that <br />the name of the street located in the City of Lakewood now known as Highland Avenue <br />shall be, and it is hereby, changed from Highland Avenue to West ll7th Street. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this Council further authorizes and directs that all street <br />signs and all street, plat and zoning records and ordinances of the City of Lakewood <br />shall be modified to such extent as may be necessary to conform with said change of <br />name. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and <br />directed to deliver a certified copy of this ordinance to the Auditor of Cuyahoga <br />County, the Supervisor of the United States Post Office, Lakewood Branch, the Cleve- <br />land Directory Company, the public utility companies, and such other persons, firms <br />or corporations as may be deemed necessary to properly effect said change of name. <br /> <br /> Secti0n-4.
