ORDINANCE NO. 60-71 <br /> <br />Messrs. Graber, Huffman, Kelley, <br />Usher, Wendling, Gaydos <br /> <br /> AN E}~RGENCY ORDINANCE to enact new Section 137.11 of the Administrative <br />.Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood providing for payment of <br /> overtime services for members of the Division of Fire other than the Chief of the <br /> Division of Fire. <br /> <br /> W~{EREAS, this Council recognizes that inherent in the duties of fire <br />fighting,emergency situations may exist whereby members of the Division of Fire may <br />be called back to duty while off duty or required to remain on duty beyond their <br />regular scheduled working hours, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines it to be appropriate that members of <br />the Division of Fire other than the Chief of the Division of Fire should be paid <br />for such required additional duty, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance cOnstitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF'OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the <br />City of Lakewood be and the same is hereby supplemented by enacting new Section <br />137.11 to read as follows: <br /> <br /> 137.11 Overtime Compensation. <br /> <br /> In the event it is necessary to call back to duty a member of the <br /> Division of Fire while he is off duty or it is necessary for a member <br /> of the Division of Fire to remain on duty beyond his regular working <br /> hours, such member of the Division of Fire, other than the Chief of the <br /> Division of Fire, shall be entitled to compensation for such overtime <br /> services , as hereinafter provided. <br /> <br />For each instance of such overtime service of one (1) hour or more, <br />such member shall receive additional compensation at his hourly <br />rate based upon a 56 hour~work week; provided,' however, that the <br />payment of such additional compensation shall be subject to the <br />approval' of the Director of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> $.ection 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and ~provided it receives the affirm- <br />ative vote of two-thirds of all members elected, to Council, it shall take effect and <br />be in force irmnediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />· ~yor <br /> <br /> <br />
