ORDINANCE NO. 16-72 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Kelley, Magnotto,McBride, <br /> Usher, Wendling, Graber, Brockman <br /> <br /> AN E~RGENCY ORDINANCE to provide for the submission to the electorate <br />of an amendment to the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood by enacting new <br />Article XXII and Sections 1, 2 and 3 thereto pertaining to the limitation of the <br />salary for the Mayor of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an emergency exists in that this charter amendment is to be <br />presented to the electorate of the City of Lakewood at the primary election to be <br />held on May 2, 1972, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the <br />immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the usual <br />daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO, <br />TWO-THIRDS OF ALL ~MBERS ELECTED THERETO CONCURRING: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the question of the amendment to the Amended Charter of <br />the City of Lakewood by enacting new Article XXII and Sections 1, 2 and 3 thereof so <br />that same shall be and read as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE XXII. SALARY AND EMOLUMENTS FOR THE MAYOR. <br /> <br />SECTION 1. LIMITATION ON SALARY AND EMOLUMENTS FOR THE MAYOR. <br />The total salary, allowances, and emoluments provided for the Mayor of <br />the City of Lakewood.shall not exceed $21,000 per annum. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Upon approval of this Article by the electorate of the City of Lakewood, <br />it shall become effective at the beginning of the next fiscal year of the <br />City of Lakewood following said approval. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. REPEAL OF INCONSISTENT PROVISIONS. <br />All sections and parts of sections of the Lakewood Charter and ordinances <br />and resolutions which art inconsistent with this Article XXII, or prevent <br />its implementation are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />be submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the City at the general election <br />to be held on Tuesday, the 2nd day of May, 1972 at the regular places of voting in the <br />City between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the ballots for said election shall, at the top thereof, <br />be entitled, "City Charter Amendment Ballot" and the question to be submitted on said <br />ballot shall be in words following: <br /> <br />"Shall the proposed amendment enacting new Article XXII and Sections 1, 2 and <br /> 3 of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood: <br /> <br />ARTICLE XXII.
