ORDINANCE NO. 16-72 BY: Messrs. Kelley, Magnotto,McBride, Usher, Wendling, Graber, Brockman AN E~RGENCY ORDINANCE to provide for the submission to the electorate of an amendment to the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood by enacting new Article XXII and Sections 1, 2 and 3 thereto pertaining to the limitation of the salary for the Mayor of the City of Lakewood. WHEREAS, an emergency exists in that this charter amendment is to be presented to the electorate of the City of Lakewood at the primary election to be held on May 2, 1972, and WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO, TWO-THIRDS OF ALL ~MBERS ELECTED THERETO CONCURRING: Section 1. That the question of the amendment to the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood by enacting new Article XXII and Sections 1, 2 and 3 thereof so that same shall be and read as follows: ARTICLE XXII. SALARY AND EMOLUMENTS FOR THE MAYOR. SECTION 1. LIMITATION ON SALARY AND EMOLUMENTS FOR THE MAYOR. The total salary, allowances, and emoluments provided for the Mayor of the City of Lakewood.shall not exceed $21,000 per annum. SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. Upon approval of this Article by the electorate of the City of Lakewood, it shall become effective at the beginning of the next fiscal year of the City of Lakewood following said approval. SECTION 3. REPEAL OF INCONSISTENT PROVISIONS. All sections and parts of sections of the Lakewood Charter and ordinances and resolutions which art inconsistent with this Article XXII, or prevent its implementation are hereby repealed. be submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the City at the general election to be held on Tuesday, the 2nd day of May, 1972 at the regular places of voting in the City between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Section 2. That the ballots for said election shall, at the top thereof, be entitled, "City Charter Amendment Ballot" and the question to be submitted on said ballot shall be in words following: "Shall the proposed amendment enacting new Article XXII and Sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood: ARTICLE XXII. SALARY AND EMOLUb~NTS FOR THE MAYOR. SECTION 1. LIMITATION ON SALARY AND EMOLUmeNTS FOR THE ~YOR. The total salary, allowances, and emoluments provided for the Mayor of the City of Lakewood shall not exceed $21,000 per annum. SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.
