ORDINANCE NO. 59-72 BY: Messrs. Kelley, Magnotto, McBride, Usher, Wendling, Brockman, Graber AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and d~recting the Director of Finance to enter into a contract with Blue Cros~ of Northeast Ohio and with Medical Mutual of Cleveland, Inc. for the purpose of incorporating existing coverage provisions resulting from plan ' modifications of such coverage. WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has provided group hospital care and surgical/medical benefits to eligible members of the City pursuant to agreements with Blue Cross of NOrtheast Ohio and with Medical Mutual of Cleveland, Inc., and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that such agreements be e~ecuted o~ a current basis to in- corporate such changes as have occurred since the agreements p~eviously executed as of August 12, 1970, and WHEREAS, Blue Cross of Northeast Ohio and Medical Mutual of Cleveland, Inc. have sub- mitted to the City of Lakewood written applications for group hospital and surgical/ medical contracts which become a part of a contract providing hospital care and surgical/medical benefits described therein, which applications together with accompany- ing schedules, are set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto and made a part hereof, and WHEREAS, it is for the best interests of the City of Lakewood and its employees to execute such applications and contracts, and WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety and providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, ' BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Director of Finance of the City of Lakewood be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Blue Cross of Northeast Ohio and Medical Mutual of Cleveland, Inc. to provide hosoital care and surgical/medical' benefits~ to eligible employees of the City of.Lakewogd, as set forth in the applications for Group Hospitalization and Surgical/Medical Contracts. Section 2. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and providing it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor.
