<br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries for the
<br />Divisions of Police and Fire commencing January 7, 1973, and amending
<br />Ordinance 19-72 adopted on March 6, 1972.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for
<br />the usual daily operation of municipal departments in that in the
<br />interest of public service, welfare ~nd safety, it is necessary to fix
<br />the compensation of employees; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
<br />
<br />Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the compensation of members
<br />of the Divisions of Police and Fire shall be as follows commencing Jan-
<br />uary 7, 1973.

<br />Section 2. In the Division of Fire, Department of Public Safety, Group 1
<br />Firemen shall consist of firemen who have continuously served in the Division
<br />of Fire two (2) full years or who, in the judgment of the Director of Public
<br />Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired experience in the
<br />Division of Fire in some other city. Group 2 Firemen shall consist of
<br />firemen who have served continuously in the Division of Fire for more than
<br />one (1) year but less than two (2)years. Group 3 Firemen shall consist of
<br />firemen who have served in the Division of Fire for less than one (1) year.
<br />Provided, however, that there shall be no increase in salary to a fireman by
<br />reason of said grouping until certified by the Director of Public Safety.

<br />Section 3. In the Division of Police, Department of Public Safety, Group 1
<br />patrolmen shall consist of patrolmen who have continuously served in the
<br />Division of Police two (2) full years or who, in the judgment of the Director
<br />of Public Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired experience
<br />in the Division of Police in some other city. Group 2 patrolmen shall consist
<br />of patrolmen who have served continuously in the Division of Police for more
<br />than one (1) year but less than two (2) years~, Group 3 patrolmen shall consist
