45-74 Contract w/ consultants for adding level to parking garage

ORDINANCE NO. 45-74 BY: Messrs. Chinnock, Graber, Magnotto, McBride, Sinagra, Usher, Brockman AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Director of Public Works to enter into an agreement with Ramp Engineering Associates amending Agree- ment No. 72E-643 dated February 8, 1972 between Ramp Engineering Associates, consulting engineers, and the City of Lakewood to provide for the preparation of construction drawings, contract documents and specifications for adding one (1) full parking level to the existing Hospital Parking Garage. WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 72-72 the City of Lakewood employed by contract the firm of Ramp Engineering Associates as consulting engineers for the purpose of preparing construction drawings, contract documents and specifications for the multi-level Municipal Parking Garage now under construction north of Detroit Avenue between Belle and St. Charles Avenue, and WHEREAS, this Council determines that it is in the best interest of the City to immediately proceed with the construction of one additional full parking level to the existing HospitalParkingGarage, and WHEREAS, this Council determines that it is necessary to employ the services of a consulting engineer in regard to the construction of said additional level, and WHEREAS, Ramp Engineering Associates designed both the Hospital'Parking Garage and the new Municipal Parking Garage No. 2, it is in the best interest of the City to engage said firm~for the above stated purposes, and WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department and for the immediate preserva- tion of tbe public health, safety and welfare in that the architects for the con- struction of the additional full parking level should be hired immediately so that there will be no delay in the construction of said full parking level; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement with Ramp Engineering Associates, 1615 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, New York amending Agreement 72E-643 dated February 8, 1972, said amendment to be substantially in the form as attached hereto and made a part hereof. Section 2. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members~.~-l~ected ~to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its/~a~opt~on and ~p~pv~ by the Mayor.
