Graber, Magnotto, McBride~ <br />Sinagra, Usher, Chinnock <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Mayor to make ~ <br />application to the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency for a Federal <br />Grant to help defray the cost of conversion of certain traffic control signals <br />to flashing signals and the installation of new traffic control signals at certain <br />intersections within, the City, and appropriating the City's share of the cost of' <br />said project. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City desires to purchase and install the necessary equip- <br />ment to provide for flashing traffic signals at certain intersections located <br />within the City, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City desires to install new traffic control signals at <br />certain intersections located within the City so that traffic control at said <br />intersections will be in compliance with standards established by the State of <br />Ohio, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through recent federal legislation and specific state alloca- <br />tion of funds to urbanized areas, the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency <br />now has responsibility for programing Urban System transportation projects, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has been advised that federal funds are available <br />through NOACA for such transportation projects as part of the Urban System <br />("M" funds) Program, which funds are provided on a 70./30 basis, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City is desirous of obtaining financial assistance in said <br />traffic signal project and appropriating its share of the total estimated cost of <br />aPproximately $118,000.00, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the M~yor be and he is hereby authorized and directed <br />to make application to the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency for a <br />Federal Grant to help defray the cosn of conversion of certain traffic control <br />signals to flashing signals and the installation of new traffic control signals <br />at certain intersections within the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. Provided said Federal Grant is approved and obtained, there <br />is hereby appropriated from the Street Construction, Maintenance and Repair Fund <br />a sum not to exceed $35,400.00, representing the City's share of the cost of said <br />project. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
