ORDINANCE NO. 55-76 BY: <br /> <br />Messrs. McBride, Salmon, Sinagra, <br />Usher, Brockman, Chinnock, Magnotto <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing .and directing the Mayor to <br />employ by contract the National Loss Control Service Corporation of Chicago, <br />Illinois to conduct an in-depth study of the D~vision of Fir,e and the fire <br />defense system of the City of Lakewood in order to determine an acceptable <br />level of fire protection at reasonable cost. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has deemed that it is in the best interest of <br />the Ci~ty to hire a consultant to analyze the Division of Fire and the fire <br />defense system of the City of Lakewood and to formulate a workable plan for· <br />the possible restructuring of the Division of Fire, including an evaluation <br />of the number and location of fire stations, fire companies, equipment, and <br />personnel, and to determine the acceptable level of fire protection at most <br />reasonable cost, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received the qualifications of several <br />consultants and has determined that the National Loss Control Service Corporation <br />is best qualified to undertake such study, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department and for the immediate <br />preservation of the public health, safety and welfare in that a study of the <br />Division of Fire should be undertaken without delay; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and directed <br />to employ by contract the National Loss Control Service Corporation of Chicago, <br />Illinois as a professional consultant for the purposes of undertaking an in'depth <br />study of the Division of Fire and the fire defense system of the City of Lakewood <br />in accordance with a written proposal submitted by the company on July 19, 1976. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor be and be is hereby authorized to effect <br />a transfer of 1976 Community Development Block Grant Funds to pay for such <br />study in an amount not to exceed $8,530. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
