ORDINANCE NO. 43-77 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Chinnock, McBride, Salmon, <br /> Sinagra, Usher, Brockman <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Director of Public <br />Works to employ by contract the firm of Richard L. Bowen & Associates, Architects, <br />to provide professional architectural services in the remodeling of Fire Station <br />No. 1 located on Warren Road in the City of Lakewood, which services shall include <br />preparation of construction drawings, contract documents and specifications. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has determined that, rather than to construct a <br />new Fire Station within the City at this time, it would be in the best interest of <br />the City to remodel Fire Station No. 1 situated on Warren Road in the City of <br />Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council further determines that the remodeling of this <br />safety facility should be accomplished at the earliest possible time in the best <br />interest of the citizens of the City of Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council further determines that it is necessary t~employ <br />the services of an architect in regard to the remodeling of said Fire Station No. <br />1, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the usdal daily operation of a municipal department and for the immediate pre- <br />servation of the public safety and welfare in that there should be no delay in <br />the remodeling of Fire Station No. 1; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to employ by contract the architectural firm of Richard <br />L. Bowen & Associates, Architects, 13124 Shaker Square, Cleveland, Ohio 44120, <br />as the professional architect for the purpose of preparing construction drawings, <br />contract documents and specifications for the remodeling of Fire Station No. 1 <br />situated on Warren Road in the City of Lakewood, including converting the Chief's <br />Office into a Day Room, the Generator Room into a Kitchen, and the West Apparatus <br />Bay into a Dining Room, and the remodeling of Fire Station No. 3 to provide for <br />relocation of the Chief's Office and the Fire Prevention Bureau to that station. <br />Said contract shall be based upon the proposal submitted by the said Richard L. <br />Bowen & Associates, Architects, dated July 29, 1977, designated Lakewood Fire <br />Station No. 1 Remodeling Project No. RLB 01309PF, and shall provide for a fee to <br />be computed in accordance with said proposal. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall <br />take effect and be i~ force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the <br /> <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />Adopted:~~~~4~~__ <br /> <br />~lSr~e~ent <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
