ORDINANCE NO. 48-77 <br /> <br />BY:Messrs. Salmon, Sinagra, Usher, <br /> Brockman, Chinnock, Magnotto, McBride <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Director of Public <br />Works to employ by contract the firm of Weinberg, Teare and Herman as the Archi- <br />tects to provide professional architectural services in coanection with the <br />construction and installation of an .elevator at the Lakewood Senior Citizens <br />Center, 16024 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio, which service shall i~lude the <br />preparation of construction drawings, contract documents and specifications. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has determined that there is a need to remove <br />additional architectural barriers at the Lakewood Senior Citizens Center to <br />facilitate the mobility of Lakewood's disabled citizens Visiting said Genter, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council further determines that the removal of the <br />aforementioned architectural barriers would best be accomplished by the con- <br />struction and installation of an elevator at the Center which would also alleviate <br />safety and welfare factors at the Center, and ~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council further determines that the installation of a.n <br />elevator should be accomplished at the earliest possible time in the ~est <br />interests of the citizens of the City of Lakewood~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council further determines that it is necessary to <br />employ the services of an architect in regard to the construction and installa- <br />tion of an elevator at the Lakewood Senior Citizens Center, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the usual daily operation of a municipal department and for the immediate pre- <br />servation of the public safety and welfare in that there should be no delay in <br />the construction and installation of an elevator at the Lakewood Senior Citizens <br />Center, 16024 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to employ by contract the architectural firm of Weinberg, <br />Teare and Herman, 837 Terminal. Tower, Cleveland, Ohio 44113, as the professional <br />architect for the purpose of preparing construction drawings, contract documents <br />and specifications for the purpose of construction and installation of an elevator <br />at the Lakewood Senior Citizens Center, 16024 Madison Avenu'e, Lakewood, Ohio. <br />Said contract shall' provide for an architectural fee in accordance with the <br />Schedule of Fees contained in the original contract by and between Weinberg, <br />Teare and Herman andl the City of Lakewood for the remodeling of the Senior Citizens <br />Cedter dated August 2, 1976. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of aR1 members elected to Council,it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its' adoption and approval by the <br />Mayor,~'~otherwise it shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest . <br /> <br />period allowed by law. <br />Adopted: 1777 <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
