<br /> AN EHERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of
<br /> the Codified Ordinances of the City of I.akewood providing for standards for
<br />,electrical materials and installations.
<br />
<br /> WIIEREAS, the Council of the City of Lakewood d.id, on the 20th day of
<br />January, 1975, enact a new Chapter 1304 of the Codified Ordinances of the City
<br />of Lakewood, which incorpprated by reference and amended the 1975 National
<br />Electrical Code, and
<br />
<br /> WItEREAS, the 1975 National Electrical Code has subsequently been
<br />amended, an¢l
<br />
<br /> I~qtEREAS, It is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of
<br />Lakewood that Chapter 1304 of the Building Code .of the Codified Ordinances of
<br />the City of Lakcwood be amended to incorporate'the amendments made to the 1975
<br />National Electrical Code, and
<br />
<br /> WtlEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing
<br />for the immediate preserw~t'ion of the pub]lc health, safety and welfare and
<br />also for the reason that the National Electrical Code, as amended, goes into
<br />effect on January 1, 1978 and such amendments should be adopted by that date;
<br />now, therefore,

<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY TtIE COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:

<br /> Section I. That Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified
<br />Ordinances of the City of Lakewood which .presently reads as follows:

<br /> Pursuant to the provisions of Ohio Revised Code 731.231, the National
<br />Electrical Code, being particutarty the 1975 edition thereof, design.qted
<br />NFPA No. 70-1975, is hereby adopted by the City and incorporated by reference
<br />as a part 6f the B. ilding Code of the City of Lakewo~d as Lf fully set out
<br />herein, except such provistons as are, hereinafter a,,mnded, enacted or
<br />deleted. The pul]~ose of a National Electrical Code as ~dopted herein is the
<br />practical safeguardi~ig of perso.s, buildings and dwellings, and their contents
<br />from hazards arisi.~t from the use of electricity for heat, lkgh't and power
<br />and for other purposes. ~'

<br /> A complete copy of Ehe 1975 National Electrical Code as adopted herein
<br />is on file with tho Clerk of Council and the Building Com,nissio.et' for
<br />inspection by the pt,blic, and ;~ copy is also on file in, tl~e Ct,),;d,oga County
<br />Law Library. The Clerk of Council has copies available for distribution to
<br />the public a~ cost.

<br /> In the event of a.y co.flict between the require..-nts nf the 1975
<br />National Electrical Code and tho~;e of any other code nd,,i, ted I,y the City,

<br />stricter standard shall govern.
