ORDINANCE NO. 7-78 BY: Messrs. Brown, Chinnock, McBride, Salmon, Brockman AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 135.02 of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to Paid.holidays for members of the Division of Police of the City of Lakewood. WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure, providing for the usual daily operation of municipal departments; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That existing Section 135.02 of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: Section 135.02 HOLIDAYS Members of the Division of Police shall be granted as holidays New Year's Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Member's Birthday in the calendar year 1974 and each succeeding calendar year thereafter. Members may be required to work on the foregoing named holidays; provided, however, that in the event any member is required to work on any such holiday such member shall be granted time off, equal to the number of hours worked on the holiday, during a succeeding calendar week as designated by the Chief of Police, which time off shall apply on the work week as hereinbefore defined and limited. In the event a member's customary day off falls on any of said holidays, such member shall be given a day off in lieu of the holiday. In all such cases the date of such day or hours off duty shall be designated by the Chief of Police so as to cause minimum interference with customary and normal operation of the Division. be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 135.02 HOLIDAYS Members of the Division of Police shall be granted as holidays New Year's Day, Presidents Day,. Members may be required to work on the foregoing named holidays; provided, however, that in the event any member is required to work on any such holiday such member shall be granted time off, equal to the number of hours worked on the holiday, during a succeeding calendar week as designated by the Chief of Police, which time off shall apply on the work week as hereinbefore defined and limited. If due to scheduling, holidays are not taken in the year earned they may be accumulated and taken off in the subsequent calendar year at the salary rate in effect at the time when the holiday is taken.
