AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to supplement the Building Code of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood by enacting new Chapter 1321 <br />of the Building Code relating to the licensing of plumbers, sewer builders, <br />electricians and heating and air-conditioning contractors and repealing <br />Ordinance No. 84-58 adopted October 6, 1958 and all other ordinances or <br />parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the preservation of the public safety and welfare and for the. usual <br />daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of <br />the City of Lakewood be supplemented by enacting new Chapter 1321 of the <br />Building Code which shall read as follows: <br /> <br /> CHA~-~ 1321 <br /> LICENSING OF PLUMBERS, SEWER BUILDERS, <br />ELECTRICIANS AND HEATING AND/ORAIR-CONDITIONING CONTRACTORS <br /> <br />1321.01 LICENSING REQUIREMENT <br /> <br /> No pers°n, corporation, partnership, firm or other business <br />association shall engage in, or work at the trade or occupation <br />of plumbing, sewer builders, heating and/or air-conditioning <br />work or electrical work without first obtaining a license from <br />the Building Commissioner. <br /> <br />1321.02 APPLICATION <br /> <br /> Applications for a license shall be on a form issued by the <br />Building Commissioner. Such licenses shall be granted if the <br />Building Commissioner finds the applicant is qualified to perform <br />the work for which the application is sought. <br /> Evidence that the applicant is currently licensed by any <br />city or county which, in the opinion of the Building Commissioner <br />has a qualifiedexamination, shall be sufficient evidenCe of <br />qualification so-as to authorize the issuance of a license. If <br />the applicant does not qualify based upon examinations conducted <br />by other municipalities, an examination as to the qualifications <br />and competency to perform thework for which the application is <br />sought shall be conducted by the Building Con~i~sioner. <br /> <br />1321.03 TIME AND FEE <br /> <br /> The license shall be valid for the calendaryear inwhich <br />issued and shall be renewed annually thereafter. A/fee of <br />Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00) shall be paid at the time of the <br />original issuance and at each renewal thereafter. <br /> <br />....... J~ .....
