ORDINANCE NO. 18-79 <br /> <br />BY: Brockman, Brown, Chinnock, <br /> Magnotto, McBride, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN ORDINA~CE to supplement the Building Code of the Codified <br />' Ordinances of the City of Lakewood by enacting new Chapter 1325 of the <br /> Building Code establishing an Architectural Board of Review. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has' initiat'ed and implemented a number of <br />programs in an attempt to upgrade and improve the commercial properties <br />in the City, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Council deems it is in the best interest of the City <br />of Lakewood to establish an Architectural Board of Review to assure the <br />continuation of and the preservation of improvements .to the commercial <br />properties of the City, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br /> <br />OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances <br />of the City of Lakewood be supplemented by .enacting new Chapter 1325 of <br />the Building Code which shall read as follows: <br /> <br /> CHAPTER 1325 <br />ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW <br /> <br />1325.O1 ESTABLISHMENT OF BOARD <br /> <br /> An Architectural Board of Review is hereby established. <br />Board, when used in this Chapter, shall mean the Architectur'al <br />Board of Review <br /> <br />1325.O2 MEMBERSNIP <br /> <br /> The Board of Building Standards and Building Appeals <br />established by Chapter 156 of the Administrative Code shall <br />act as the Architectural Board of Rev'ew. <br /> <br />1325.O3 PURPOSES OF BOARD <br /> <br /> The purposes of the Architectural Board of Review are to <br />protect the value, appearance and use of property on which <br />buildings are constructed or altered-, to maintain a high character <br />of community development, to protect the public health, safety, <br />convenience and welfare and to protect real estate within the <br />City from Tmpairment or destruction of value. Such purposes shall <br />be accomplished by the Board by regulating, according to accepted <br />and r.ecogn~zed architectural principles, the des~qn, use of m~terials, <br />finished grade lines, dimensions, orientation ;~d location of all <br />main and accessory buildings to be erected, move'd, alterf~d, remodeled <br />or repaired, subject to tile provisions of the Zonino and Iq,~ildJJ~g <br />Codes and other applicable ordinances of tile Cily, and sh~ll tbke <br />into consideration the Architectural Standards Workbook which has <br />been adopted by the City. In reviewing, regulating and approving <br /> building plans, the Board shall consider and take cotnizance of <br /> the dev(~lopment of adjacent, contigtJous and neighboring buildings <br /> and properties for the purpose of achieving safe, harmonious and <br /> integrated development of related properties. <br /> <br /> <br />
