ORDINANCE NO. 37-79 BY: <br /> <br />McBride, Salmon, Wendling, <br />Brockman, Brown, Chinnock, <br />Magnotto <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend paragraphs (a) and (c) of Section <br />'149.111 of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of <br />Lakewood relating to sick leave accumulation and conversion. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure prOviding <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That paragraph (a) of Section 149.111 of the Administrative <br />Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows: <br /> <br />149.111 SICK LEAVE ACCUMULATION AND CONVERSION. <br /> <br /> (a) All full-time, permanent, hourly employees who are members <br />of a collective bargaining unit may accumulate sixty days of unused <br />sick leave and they shall be allowed to convert twenty-five percent <br />of such sick leave intO a lump sum cash payment up to a maximum of <br />fifteen days of pay upon retirement, resignation or death. <br /> <br />be and the same is hereby repealed to read as follows: <br /> <br /> 149.111 SICK LEAVE ACCUMULATION AND CONVERSION. <br /> <br /> (a) All full-time, permanent, hourly employees who are members <br />of a collective bargaining unit may accumulate ninety days of unused <br />sick leave and they shall be allowed to convert twenty-five percent <br />of such sick leave into a lump sum cash payment up to a maximum of <br />twenty-two and one-half days of pay upon retirement, resignation or <br />death. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That paragraph (c) of Section 149.111 of the Administrative <br />Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows: <br /> <br />149.111 SICK LEAVE ACCUMULATION AND CONVERSION. <br /> <br /> (C) The lump sum sick leave conversion payment provided for <br />herein shall be made within fourteen days after retirement, resignation <br />or death. <br /> <br />be and the same is hereb~ repealed to read as follows: <br /> <br />149.111 SICK LEAVE ACCUMULATION AND CONVERSION. <br /> <br /> (c) The lump sum sick leave conversion payment provided for <br />herein shall be made within twenty-one days after retirement,.- <br />resignation or death. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided <br />it"receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members-elected to Council, <br />it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval <br />by the Mayor; otherwise it shall take effect at the earliest period provided by <br />law, and existing paragraph (a) of Section 149.111 adopted July 18, 1977 <br /> <br /> <br />
