<br /> AN ORDINANCE fixing the salary of' the Mayor of the City of
<br />Lakewood effective January 1, 1980.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Article II, Section 5 of the Amended Charter of the
<br />City of Lakewood provides that the salary of the Mayor shall be established
<br />by Ordinance of Council, provided such Ordinance shall be adopted not less
<br />than thirty (30) days prior to the filing date fixed by law for the filing
<br />of nominating petitions by candidates for the Office of Mayor for the term
<br />to be effected thereby, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the filing date fixed by law for the filing of nominating
<br />petitions for candidates for the Office of Mayor for the term beginning
<br />January 1,1980 is August 3, 1979, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, in establishing a salary for the Mayor effective January 1,
<br />1980, this Council is cognizant of the general inflation taking place in
<br />this country and has taken that fact into consideration in accordance with
<br />the President's current Wage and Stabilization Program; now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF
<br />OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. Commencing January 1, 1980, the salary of the Mayor
<br />of the City of Lakewood shall be Thirty-Fou5~ Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
<br />($34,500.00) for the period January 1, 1980 through December 31, 1980,
<br />Thirty-Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($3~,500.00) for the period January 1,
<br />1981 through December 3i, 1981, Thirty-Eight ]housand Five Hundred Dollars
<br />($38,500.00) for the period January 1, 1982 ~rough December 3.1, 1982, and
<br />Forty Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($40,500.00) for the calendar year 1983
<br />and thereafter, said salary payable in equal semi-monthly installments or
<br />in equal installments every two (2) weeks, commencing on the 1st day of
<br />January, 1980.

<br /> Section 2. In the event any clause or phrase of this Ordinance
<br />shall be judicially determined unconstitutional or invalid, every other
<br />clause or phrase shall remain in full force and effect.
<br />
<br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions
<br />of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance
<br />were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliber-
<br />ations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such
<br />formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all
<br />legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
<br />
<br /> Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in force from and after
<br />the earliest period allowed by law provided, however, that the salary of
<br />the Mayor, as herein provided, shall take effect January 1, 1980 and
<br />Ordinance No. 62-76, adopted November 18, 1976, shall be and the same is
<br />hereby repealed as of December 31, 1979. /'
