<br /> Signs shall be designed, erecLed, altered, reconstructed, moved,
<br /> and maintained, i, whole or itl part, itl accorclance witJl the type,
<br /> design, size, location, illumination and other provisions set
<br /> forth in this Ci~al)ter.
<br />The construction, erection, safety a~d maintenance of all sig~s
<br />shall be in accorda,ce wi~h the Lakm-~'o~ Building Code. The.
<br />provisions of this Chaunter shall ~ot m~[e'~d or in any wa~i))terfere
<br />'wi th other codes, ru, ~e~, or renu ~ a t i Ohs ~overn'~ ng Ira ~'~i gns

<br />CLASSIFICATION OF SIGNS.
<br />
<br />(a)..S.!gn. means any display, figure, painting, drawing, placard,
<br /> poster or other device visible from a public way ~.~hich is
<br /> designed, intended or used to convey a message, advertise,
<br /> inform or direct attention to a person, institution,
<br /> · organization, activity, place, object or product. It may
<br /> be a structure or part thereof i.).ainted on or attached
<br /> directly or indirectly to a structure.

<br />(bi Classification by Functional Type.

<br />Billboard, means a sign directing ,a, ttent~on to a
<br />~D'~'d'if'i'E--bL~siness, pr~duCL, sorvice, enLerLainment or
<br />Oily oth6'J' activity sold, offered or conducted else-
<br />where than upon the same lot on Which the sign is
<br />locaLed.

<br />.B_u.]_l.e_tLjn~.B..o..a2'_d.., means an a,lnouncement sign which
<br />directs attention to and is locaLed on the lot of a
<br />public or semi-public institution.

<br />Business Sicm, means a sign adVertising.the name of
<br />the business or establishment, the goods or com-
<br />modities sold and/or brand names thereof, or services
<br />rendered on the lot which tile sign is locat:ed. (The
<br />terms "advertising" and "brand names" distinguis'h
<br />business signs from identification signs.)
<br />
<br />Devel.o_j2men't Sign, means.a sign directing attention'
<br />to the I)ro, loL~'~T, develop,lent, or construcLion of a
<br />building or subdivision on the parce'l".of land on
<br />which the sign is located.

<br /> (5) Directional Sig. n, means a sign indicating the direction
<br /> ~b--~l~-d'ii'~'~-~-i~'~-fon is called either on the lot on which
<br /> tile sign is located or which directs attention to
<br /> another location.
<br />
<br />(6) .I~entification Sig)t, means a sign indicating the name,
<br /> o~.mer, manager, and/or address of an existing building
<br /> or business. (The term "no,me" may include the t~pe of
<br /> goods sold or services rendered, but not brand-~j}~es.)

<br />(7) Informational Sign means a sign which is designed ~o
<br /> g~ve general infon~a~ion to Lhe I)ublic concerning the
<br /> location of places for lodg~n9 or ea~ing, vehicle
<br /> service, L/me, weather, t~istnr~c sites, areas of
<br /> ~laLural scenic beauLy or outdoor rec?eation facilities
<br /> and similar infonnaLion.

<br />(8) .Ngm_ej?]pt_.e., means a sign indicating the name, address
<br /> or profession of the person or persons occupying the
<br /> lot or part of a building.
