ORDINANCE NO. 24-80 BY: McBride, Salmon, Wen~ling, Brown, ,Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE approving Collective Bargaining Agreements (together with Letters of Agreement attached thereto and made a part hereof) with the Lakewood Association of Fire F~ghters, Local No. 382 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO, establishing conditions of employment, working conditions and various benefits for certain employees of the Division of Fire of the City of Lakewood and authorizing the Mayor and the Director of Finance to sign said Agreements on behalf of the City, and ratifying their signatures affixed thereto. WHEREAS, discussions and negotiations have been conducted on behalf of the City with representatives of the said Lakewood Association of Fire Fighters, Local No. 382 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-Cf0, with respect to conditions of employment, working conditions and various benefits for certain employees of the Division of Fire of the City of Lakewood, and WHEREAS, agreements.have been reached in the course of said dis- cussions and negotiations with respect to the conditions of employment, working conditions and various benefits for the certain employees aforementioned~ and WHEREAS, this Council determines that it is in the best interest of the City to approve Collective Bargaining Agreements between the City the Lakewood Association of Fire Fighters and to authorize, the Mayor and Director of Finance to sign such Agreements on behalf of the City,.and WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, and for the further reason that it is necessary for the approval of said Agreements at the earliest possible time, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAIHED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHI0: Section 1. That Collective Barga.lnlng Agreements (together with Letters of Agreement attached thereto and made a part thereof) with the Lakewood Association of Fire Fighters, Local No. 382 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO, the original copies of which are on file in the office of the Mayor of the City of Lakewood and is made a part hereof as though written fully herein, is hereby adopted, ratified and approved and the Mayor and the Director of Finance are hereby authorized and. directed for and on behalf of the City to affix their signatures thereto an~ their signa- tures affixed thereto are hereby ratified. Section 2. That all other ordinances or resolutions, or parts of ordi- nances or resolutions which are inconsistent with this Ordinance and the Collec- tive Bargaining Agreements made a part hereof are hereby repealed as of January 1, 1980 to the extent that they pertain to employees in the bargaining unit covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreements and are :inconsistent with this Ordinance including Collective Bargaining Agreements attached hereto and ma~e a part hereof. Section 3. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of'all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and appEoval by the Mayor; otherwise it shall take effect an~~.be in force ~£~ and after the earliest period allowed by law.
