ORDINANCE NO. 31-81 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, <br /> Graham, McBride, Salmon, <br /> Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 135.02 of the Administrative <br />Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood to provide that the <br />holiday schedule for other uniformed personnel of the police department be <br />on the same basis as sworn members of the Division of Police. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the services of matrons and communicatiOn operators are <br />required in the Division. of Police to maintain police services on holidays, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, holiday work requirements for such other uniformed personnel <br />of the Division of Police should be on the same basis as sworn members of the <br />Police, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Section 135.02 of the Administrative Code of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: <br /> <br />135.02 HOLIDAYS <br /> <br /> Members of the Division of Police shall be granted as holi- <br />days New Year's Day, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, <br />Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, <br />Christmas Day,'the member's birthday and a persOnal day in the <br />calendar year 1977 and each succeeding calendar year thereafter. <br />Members may be required to work on the foregoing named holidays, <br />provided such members shall be granted time off, equal to the <br />number of hours worked on the holiday, during a succeeding <br />calendar week as designated by the Chief of Police, which time <br />off shall apply on the work week as defined and limited in Sec- <br />ti on 135.02. <br /> In the event a member's customary day off falls on "any <br />of such holidays, the member shall be given a day off in lieu <br />of the holiday. In all such cases the date of such day or <br />hours off duty shall be designated by the Chief of Police so <br />as to cause minimum interference with customary and normal oper- <br />ation of the Division. <br /> If, due to scheduling, holidays are not taken in the year <br />earned, they may be accumulated and taken off in the subsequent <br />calendar year at the salary rate in effect at the time when the <br />holiday is taken. HOLIDAYS <br /> <br /> Members and other uniformed personnel of the Division of <br />Police shall be 9ranted as holidays New Year's Day, Presidents <br />Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, <br />Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day.,. Christmas. Day, the members' birth- <br />day and a personal day in the calendar year 1977 and each succeed- <br />ing calendar year thereafter.
