ORDINANCE NO. 31-81 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, McBride, Salmon, Wendling AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 135.02 of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood to provide that the holiday schedule for other uniformed personnel of the police department be on the same basis as sworn members of the Division of Police. WHEREAS, the services of matrons and communicatiOn operators are required in the Division. of Police to maintain police services on holidays, and WHEREAS, holiday work requirements for such other uniformed personnel of the Division of Police should be on the same basis as sworn members of the Police, and WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Section 135.02 of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: 135.02 HOLIDAYS Members of the Division of Police shall be granted as holi- days New Year's Day, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day,'the member's birthday and a persOnal day in the calendar year 1977 and each succeeding calendar year thereafter. Members may be required to work on the foregoing named holidays, provided such members shall be granted time off, equal to the number of hours worked on the holiday, during a succeeding calendar week as designated by the Chief of Police, which time off shall apply on the work week as defined and limited in Sec- ti on 135.02. In the event a member's customary day off falls on "any of such holidays, the member shall be given a day off in lieu of the holiday. In all such cases the date of such day or hours off duty shall be designated by the Chief of Police so as to cause minimum interference with customary and normal oper- ation of the Division. If, due to scheduling, holidays are not taken in the year earned, they may be accumulated and taken off in the subsequent calendar year at the salary rate in effect at the time when the holiday is taken. HOLIDAYS Members and other uniformed personnel of the Division of Police shall be 9ranted as holidays New Year's Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day.,. Christmas. Day, the members' birth- day and a personal day in the calendar year 1977 and each succeed- ing calendar year thereafter. Members and other uniformed personnel may be required to work on the foregoing named holidays, provided such members and uniformed personnel shall be granted time off, equal to the number of hours worked on the holiday, during a succeeding calendar week as designated by the Chief of Police, which time off shall apply on the work week as defined in Section 135.02.
