If the City Engineer <br /> permits the pretreatment or equalization of waste <br /> flows, the design and installation of the plants <br /> and equipment shall be subject to the review and <br /> approval of the City Engineer, and subject to the <br /> requirements of all applicable codes, ordinances <br /> · - -, t .t aws. <br /> (i) Grease, oil an~ sane interceptors shall be provided when in the <br />opinion of zke City Engineer, they are necessary for the proper, handling <br />of lL.zuld '.~aszes contain-lng grease in excessive amounts or any flammable <br />:¢asces, ::and. or o~her harmful ingredients; except that such interceptors <br />shall not be re, cuffed for private living quarters or dwelling units. Monitoring facilities to allow inspection, <br /> · _ __c.¢ measurement of the building sewer and/or internal <br />samD!inz, and =~ ' <br />drainage systems shall be provided and operated by all significant <br />industrial users or other industrial user which may have a significant <br />effec: as dete~~m...ined by the City Engineer. The monitoring facility <br />should normaily be situated on the user's premises, but the City Engineer <br />may, when such a location would be impractical or cause undue hardship <br />on the user, allow the facility to be constructed in =he public street <br />or sidewalk area and iota=ed so that it will not be obstructed by land- <br />scaping or parked vehicles. <br /> There shall be amDle room in or near such sampling manhole or facility <br /> =o aiic~ accurage sampiing and compositing of samples for analysis. The <br /> faciiiu7, sampiing, and measuring equipmen~ shall be maintained at all <br /> times zn a safe an~ proper opera=lng condition at the expense of the user. <br /> ~-~e~ner consurucue~ on public or private property, the sampling and <br /> moniuor~ng faciiiuies shall be provided in accordance with the City <br /> =--ineer'$ recuzremenus and all applicable local construction s~andards <br /> an~ speci£icagions. Consgruction shall be compleged within 90 days <br /> following wrluzan nouification by the City Engineer unless a time <br /> exuenszcn is ouna~wise granged by the City Engineer. <br /> (e) Ail measurements, tests, and analyses of the characteristics of <br /> wauers an= wasues ~o which reference is made in the ordinance shall, be <br /> deuermined in accordance with the latest edition of "Standard Methods <br /> for ~he Examine=ion of %~ater and ~astewauer," published by the American <br /> Public }{eal~h Association, and shall be determined at the dontrol man- <br /> hole provided, or upon suitable samples taken at said control manhole. <br /> In uhe event thaz no special manhole has been requ%red, t~e control <br /> manho== shall be considered t6 be the nearest downstream manhole in <br /> the public sewer zo ~he point at which the building sewer is connected. <br /> Sampling shall be carried out by customarily accepted methods to reflect <br /> ~he effete of constituents upon the wastewager disposal system and to <br /> de=erm..inu~..e"~- exisuence of hazards =o life, limb and property.
