ORDINANCE NO. 63-81 BY' Brown, Chinnock, Graham, McBride, Wendling Gallagher, Salmon, AN ~MERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 516.01; Paragraph (e) of Section 516.03; Section 516.04; Section 516.05; Section 516.06; and Paragraph (b) of Section 516.07 of fhapter 516 of the Fair Housing code, and Section 1327.08 of Chapter 1327 of the Condcminiums code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lak~vood, prohibiting discrimination .of persons because of physical handicapps. I~ER~S, it is the intent and desire of this Council to protect handi- capped citizens not only in programs supported by the General Revenue Fund, but also in programs involving any e~penditure of city money, and 1~HEP~AS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public safety and welfare and for the usual operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF CHIO: Section 1. That Section 516.01 of the Fair Housing Chapter of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows: 516.01 Policy It is hereby designated to be the continuing policy of the City to do all things necessary and proper to secure for all citizens their right to eq,m~ housing opportunities regardless of their race, color, creed, sex, religious belief or national:origin. shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 516.01 Policy It is hereby designated to be the continuing policy of the City to do all things necessary and proper to secure for all citizens their right to equal housing, opportunities regardless of their race, color, creed, sex, religious belief, national origin, or physical handicap.. Section 2. That Section 516.03(e) of the Fair Housing ,.Chapter of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows: 516.03 Definitions (e) 'qDiscrimination" means to render any difference in treatment to any person in the sale, lease, rental or financing of a c~,elling or housing unit because of a person's race, color, creed, sex, religious belief or national origin. -shall be and the same is.-hereby amended to read as follows' 516.03 Definitions (e) "Discrimination" means to render any difference in treatment to any person in the sale, lease, rental or financing of a c~velling or housing unit because of a person's race, color, creed, sex, religious belief, national origin, or physical handicap.
