(Upon adoption of this Amended Section, the existing Article <br />VII, Section 1 of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood <br />shall be repealed~) <br /> <br />be submztted to a vote of the qualified electors of the City at the <br />general elect~on to be held on Tuesday, the 3rd day of November, 1981 at <br />the regular places of votzng in the City and durzng the usual hours for <br />holding elections as provided in the general laws of the State of Ohio. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the ballot submlttang the question of the <br />adoption of the foregoing proposed amendment shall read as follows: <br /> <br /> "PROPOSED <br />CHARTER AMENDMENT <br />CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO <br /> <br />Shall the proposed amendment of Article VII, Sectzon 1 of the Amended <br />Charter of the City of Lakewood, Ohio: <br /> <br />ARTICLE VII. DEPARTMENT OF LAW. <br /> <br />SECTION 1. QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES OF DIRECTOR. <br /> <br /> The Director of Law shall be an a~torney at law admitted <br />to practice in the State of Ohio, and shall be an elector of <br />the City. He shall be the legal advisor of and attorney and <br />counsel for the City, and shall advise, counsel, and draft <br />legislation at the direction of any member of Counczl, the <br />Mayor and any director of an administrative department, or on <br />the request of any board or commission of the City zn matters <br />relating to their official duties. He shall prepare all <br />contracts, bonds and other instruments in writing in which the <br />City is concerned and shall endorse on each his approval of <br />the form and correctness thereof. He shall appoint such <br />assistants and assign their duties as Council may authorize. <br /> <br /> (a) The Director of Law shall be the Prosecutzng Attor- <br />ney of the Municipal Court. He may designate such number of <br />assistant prosecutors as the Council by ordinance may author- <br />lze. He shall prosecute all cases brought before such Court <br />and perform the same duties so far as they are applicable <br />thereto, as are requzred of the Prosecuting Attorney of the <br />County. <br /> <br /> (b) When required to do so by reso]utlon of the Counczl, <br />the Director of Law shall prosecute or defend for and in <br />behalf of the City, all complaints, su~ts and controversies zn <br />which the City is a party, and such other sumts, matters and <br />controversies as he shall by resolution or ordinance be di- <br />rected to prosecute or defend. <br /> <br />-3- <br /> <br /> <br />
