ORDINANCE NO. 100-82 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries of the <br />annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Police of the Department of <br />Public Safety except the Police Chief, effective January 1, 1983, and repealing <br />all other ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent therewith. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for <br />the usual daily operation of a municipal department in that in the interest of <br />the public welfare and safety it is necessary to create positions and fix the <br />compensation of employees; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the compensation of the <br />annual salaried, sworn personnel in the Division of Police, Department of Public <br />Safety, with the exception of the Chief of Police, shall be as follows effective <br />January l, 1983, pursuant to the terms of the agreement between the City of <br />Lakewood and Western Cuyahoga Lodge No. 25 Fraternal Order of Police, Lakewood <br />Division, effective January 1, 1982, through December 31, 1983: <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY - DIVISION OF POLICE <br /> <br />Not to <br />Exceed Rank <br /> <br /> 3 <br /> 4 <br /> 7 <br />22 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />51 <br /> <br />Captain <br />Lieutenant <br />Sergeant <br />Investigator <br /> Patrolmen detailed as Detectives <br /> before 6/5/76 <br />Patrolmen and Policewomen detailed <br />as Investigators after 6/5/76 <br />Safety Education Officer <br />Patrolmen and Policewomen <br /> Grade I <br /> Grade 2 <br /> Grade 3 <br /> <br />$35,142.97 <br /> 31,099.98 <br /> 28,272.71 <br /> <br />25,702.47 <br /> <br />25,462.26 <br />24,741.63 <br /> <br />24,021.00 <br />22,466.00 <br />18,191.00 <br /> <br /> Section 2. In the Division of Police, Department of Public Safety, <br />Grade 1 patrolmen shall consist of patrolmen who have continuously served in the <br />Division of Police two (2) full years or who, in the judgment of the Director of <br />Public Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired experience in the <br />Division of Police in some other City. Grade 2 patrolmen shall consist of <br />patrolmen who have served continuously in the Division of Police for more than <br />one (l) year but less than two (2) years. Grade 3 patrolmen shall consist of <br />patrolmen who have served in the Division of Police for less than one (1) year. <br />Provided, however, that there shall be no increase in salary to any employee by <br />reason of the said grouping until certified by the Director of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in <br />an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council <br />and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, were in <br />meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements including <br />Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br /> <br /> <br />
