ORDINANCE NO. 23-82 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Graham, Salmon <br /> Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries of the <br />annual, salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Fire, except the Fire <br />Chief, effective January 1, 1982. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department in that in the interest <br />of public service, welfare and safety, it is necessary to fix the compensation <br />of employees; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the compensation of the <br />annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Fire with the exception of <br />the Chief of Fire, shall be as follows effective January 1, 1982: <br /> <br />DIVISION OF FIRE <br /> <br />Not to Exceed Rank <br /> <br />3 Assistant Fire Chiefs $30,940.98 <br />12 Fire Captains 26,905.20 <br />1 Fire Marshal 26,905.20 <br />1 Fireman detailed as <br /> electrician 24,663.00 <br />1 Fireman detailed as <br /> mechanic 24,663.00 <br />56 Fireman <br /> Fireman Group 1 22,421.00 <br /> Fireman Group 2 20,713.00 <br /> Fireman Group 3 16,806.00 <br /> <br /> Section 2. In the Division of Fire, Department of Public Safety, <br />Group 1 Firemen shall consist of firemen who have continuously served in the <br />Division of Fire two (2) full years or who, in the judgment of the Director of <br />Public Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired experience in <br />the Division of Fire in some other City. Group 2 Firemen shall consist of <br />firemen who have served continuously in the Division of Fire for more than one <br />(1) but less than two (2) years. Group 3 firemen shall consist of firemen who <br />have served in the Division of Fire for less than one (1) year. Provided, <br />however, that there shall be no increase in salary to a fireman by reason of <br />said grouping until certified by the Director of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of <br />this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were <br />adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of <br />this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, <br />were in meetings open to '~he public, in compliance with all legal requirements <br />including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br /> <br /> Section 4. This this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the <br />Mayor; otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest <br />period allowed by law. <br /> <br />A'pProVed '~/~~¢ / ~Y~ <br /> <br />Vice-President <br /> <br /> <br />
