ORDINANCE N0.9'83 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Galiagher, Graham, McBride, Salmon, Wendling AN' EMERGENCY ORDINANCE approving the compensation of employees of Lakewood Hospital, establishing other benefits for certain employees and students as fixed by the Board of Trustees, and repealing Ordinance No. 107-81 adopted on December 7, 1981. WHEREAS, Lakewood Hospital recognizes its employees as a valuable asset to the institution and further recognizes their role in providing quality health care to the users of the Hospital facility, and WHEREAS, Lakewood Hospital endeavors to offer its employees fair and competitive compensation for their services, and WHEREAS, the Hospital Administration has conducted a review of the present salary structure by comparing the compensation offered to Hospital employees with that offered by other area hospitals, and WHEREAS, the Personnel and Finance Committees held several meetings to review the Hospital's present salary structure, and WHEREAS, the Personnel and Finance Committees reviewed the complete 1983 oPerating budget including the proposed salary increases in order that the same would comply with the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 (TEFRA), and WHEREAS, the amended Charter of the City of Lakewod, pursuant to Article XX, Section 3 provides that the Board of Trustees shall employ such employees as said Board deems necessary, and fix their compensation, subject to the approval Of Council, and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of Lakewood Hospital pursuant to Resolution 712 has created certain positions and fixed Salaries of the employees of Lakewood Hospital, and WHEREAS, an emergency exists for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health or safety and to provide for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the compensation fixed for employees of the Lakewood Hospital as recommended by the Board of Trustees pursuant to Resolution 712, adopted on December 14, 1982, be and the same is hereby approved by this Council and shall be fixed by the Board of Trustees within the following schedule effective April 3, 1983.
