ORDINANCE NO. 104-83 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, <br /> Graham, McBride, Salmon <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Sections i304.01 and 1304.04 of <br />Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of <br />Lakewood providing for standards for electrical materials and installations. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 1981 National Electrical Code has been amended, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of <br />Lakewood that Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of <br />+he City of Lakewood be amended to incorporate the amendments made to the <br />1981 National Electrical Code, by adopting the 1984 Code into our Ordinances, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for <br />the further reason that the National Electrical Code, as amended, will go into <br />effect on January 1, 1984 and such amendments should be adopted and become <br />effective by that date; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Section 1304.01 of Chapter 1304 of the Building <br />Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: <br /> <br />1304.01 ADOPTION; IDENTITY AND PURPOSE. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to the provisions of the Ohio R.C. 731.231, the National <br />Electrical Code, being particularly the 1951 edition thereof, <br />designated ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1981, is hereby adopted by the City and <br />incorporated by reference as a part of the Building Code of the City <br />of Lakewood as if fully set out herein, except such provisions as are, <br />hereinafter amended, enacted or deleted. The purpose of a National <br />Electrical Code as adopted herein is the practical safeguarding of <br />persons, buildings and dwellings, and their contents from hazards <br />arising from the use of electricity for heat, light and power and <br />for other purposes. <br /> <br />shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />1304.01 ADOPTION~ IDENTITY AND PURPOSE. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to the provisions of Ohio R.C. 731.231, the National <br />Electrical Code, being particularly the 198~ edition thereof, <br />designated ANSI/NFPA No, 70-1984, is hereby adopted by the City and <br />incorporated by reference as a part of the Building Code of the City <br />of Lakewood as if fully set out herein, except such provisions as are, <br />hereinafter 'amended, enacted or deleted.
