ORDINANCE NO. 104-83 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, McBride, Salmon AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Sections i304.01 and 1304.04 of Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood providing for standards for electrical materials and installations. WHEREAS, the 1981 National Electrical Code has been amended, and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Lakewood that Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of +he City of Lakewood be amended to incorporate the amendments made to the 1981 National Electrical Code, by adopting the 1984 Code into our Ordinances, and WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further reason that the National Electrical Code, as amended, will go into effect on January 1, 1984 and such amendments should be adopted and become effective by that date; now, therefore, OHIO: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF Section 1. That Section 1304.01 of Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: 1304.01 ADOPTION; IDENTITY AND PURPOSE. Pursuant to the provisions of the Ohio R.C. 731.231, the National Electrical Code, being particularly the 1951 edition thereof, designated ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1981, is hereby adopted by the City and incorporated by reference as a part of the Building Code of the City of Lakewood as if fully set out herein, except such provisions as are, hereinafter amended, enacted or deleted. The purpose of a National Electrical Code as adopted herein is the practical safeguarding of persons, buildings and dwellings, and their contents from hazards arising from the use of electricity for heat, light and power and for other purposes. shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 1304.01 ADOPTION~ IDENTITY AND PURPOSE.
