<br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Paragraph (b) of Section 351.99 of the
<br />Traffic Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood to provide for
<br />an increase in the fine for parking meter violations.effective July 1, 1983.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the current penalty for parking meter violations is not
<br />sufficient to discourage such parking violation, thereby defeating the purpose
<br />of metered parking, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines it is in the best interest of the
<br />City to increase the penalty for parking meter violations so as to encourage
<br />compliance therewith, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for
<br />the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for
<br />the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That Paragraph (b) of Section 351.99 of the Traffic Co'de
<br />of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows:
<br />
<br />351.99 PENALTY AND WAIVER.
<br />
<br />(a)
<br />
<br />(b) Whoever violates any of the provisions of Section 355.06(a)~
<br />(b) or (c), or Chapter 353 may, in lieu of other penalties pro-
<br />vided for the violation of such provisions and upon signing a
<br />waiver, be fined two dollars ($2.00), if such violator pays such
<br />fine at the Traffic Bureau, in person or by mail, within forty-
<br />eight hours, or, if not within forty-eight hours, then in sum
<br />of five dollars ($5.00) if such violator pays such amount at the
<br />Traffic Bureau, in person or by mail, within seventy-two hours
<br />from the time of violation. In the event such violator does
<br />not pay the fine as hereinbefore provided, then a warrant shall
<br />be issued and such violator shall be subject to the penalties
<br />otherwise provided for the violation of such provision.

<br />shall be and the same is hereby amended, effective July 1, I983, to read as follows:
<br />
<br />351.99 PENALTY AND WAIVER.

<br />wise provided for the violation of such provision.
