ORDINANCE NO: 69-83 <br /> <br />BY:Brown, Chinnock, Galla§her, <br /> Graham, McBride, Salmon, <br /> Wendling <br /> <br /> AN E}~RGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor to make <br />application to the Environmental Protection Agency to amend the <br />City's Step III Grant so as to provide for increased engineering <br />and inspection services, to accept the Step III Grant as amended, <br />and to increase the contract amount and time of service with <br />Watermation, Incorporated to perform the required work necessary <br />for a complete and operable wastewater treatment facility. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to comply with <br />Public Law 92-500, the Federal Water POllution Control Act, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, increased engineering and inspection services <br />are necessary for a complete and operable wastewater treatment <br />facility, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Environmental Protection Agency has advised <br />the City that additional Step III funding can be made available <br />upon the City's application to undertake this additional work and <br />this Council is of the opinion that it is in the best interests <br />of the City to so undertake this additional work, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department <br />and for the further reason that it is in the best interest of the <br />public health, safety and welfare of the City to proceed with the <br />Step III work relating to the City's wastewater treatment facilities <br />without delay; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized <br />and directed to make application to the Environmental Protection <br />Agency to amend the City's Step III Grant in the amount of $70,080 <br />to provide for the 75% federal share of the cost for increased <br />engineering and inspection services necessary for a complete and <br />operable wastewater treatment facility. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized <br />and directed upon approval of the aforementioned amendment to the <br />City's Step III Grant by the Environmental Protection Agency to <br />accept said Grant as amended. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That upon authorization to make application <br />to the Environmental Protection Agency to amend the Step III Grant, <br />the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to increase <br />the contract amount and time of service with Watermation, Incor- <br />porated, 2304 University Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota, as consult- <br />ing engineers for the purpose of performing the work necessary to <br />provide for a complete and operable wastewater treatment facility. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That the total estimated cost of the afore- <br />mentioned additional work is $93,440 of which the City's 25% share <br />is $23,360 all of which is to be paid from the Sewer and Wastewater <br />Treatment Plant Improvement Fund. <br /> <br /> <br />
