ORDINANCE No. 8-84 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, <br /> Graham, McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries of the <br />annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Police of the Department of <br />Public Safety except the Police Chief, effective January 1, 1984, and repealing <br />all other ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent therewith. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for <br />the usual daily operation of a municipal department in that in the interest of <br />the public welfare and safety, it is necessary to create positions and fix the <br />compensation of employees; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. In the Division of Police, Department of Public Safety, <br />Grade 1 patrolmen shall consist of patrolmen who have continuously served in the <br />Division of Police two (2) full years or who, in the judgment of the Director of <br />Public Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired experience in the <br />Division of Police in some other City. Grade 2 patrolmen shall consist of <br />patrolmen who have served continuously in the Division of Police for more than <br />one (1) year but less than two (2) years. Grade 3 patrolmen shall consist of <br />patrolmen who have served in the Divison of Police for less than one (1) year. <br />Provided, however,-that there shall be no increase in salary to any employee by <br />reason of the said grouping until certified by the Director of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in <br />an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council <br />and of any of its conmnittees that resulted in such formal action, were in <br />meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements including <br />Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br /> <br /> <br />
