ORDINANCE NO. 125-84 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries of the <br />annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Fire of the Department of Pub- <br />lic Safety except the Fire Chief, effective January 1, 1985, and repealing all <br />other ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent therewith. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department in that in the interest <br />of public service, welfare and safety, it is necessary to fix the compensation <br />of employees; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the compensation of <br />annual salaried sworn personnel in th Division of Fire with the exception of <br />the Chief of Fire shall be as follows effective January 1, 1985, pursuant to <br />the terms of the agreement between the City of Lakewood and Local 382 of the <br />International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO: <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY - DIVISION OF FIRE <br /> <br />RANK <br /> <br />Assistant Fire Chiefs <br />Fire Captains <br />Fire Marshal <br /> <br />$37,288.98 <br /> 32,425.20 <br /> 32,425.20 <br /> <br />Firefighters <br /> Detailed as Electrician/Mechanic <br /> Grade 1 <br /> Grade 2 <br /> Grade 3 <br /> <br />29,723.10 <br />27,021.00 <br />25,313.00 <br />21,406.00 <br /> <br /> Section 2. In the Division of Fire, Department of Public Safety, <br />Grade 1 Firefighters shall consist of firefighters who have continuously served <br />in the Division of Fire two (2) full years or who, in the judgment of the <br />Director of Public Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired <br />experience in the Division of Fire in some other City. Grade 2 Firefighters <br />shall consist of firefighters who have served continuously in the Division of <br />Fire for more than one (1) year, but less then two (2) years. Grade 3 <br />Firefighters shall consist of firefighters who have served in the Division of <br />Fire for less then one (1) year. Provided, however, that there shall be no <br />increase in salary to a firefighter by reason of said grouping until certified <br />by the Director of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> Section 3. Firefighters who are accepted for employment with the Divi- <br />sion of Fire having experience with Fire Departments in other communities are <br />certified as Firefighters Grade 1, shall be hired at the grade of Firefighter <br />Grade 3, and will serve in that group for a period not less then six (6) <br />months. After that time, they shall be promoted to Grade 2 upon recommendation <br />of the Fire Chief, and serve in Grade 2 for a period of not less than 18 <br />months. After such time, they shall be promoted to Grade 1 upon recommendation <br />of the Fire Chief. <br /> <br /> Section 4. It is found and determined that all formal actions of <br />this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were <br />adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of <br />this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, <br />were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements <br />including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br /> <br /> <br />
