ORDINANCE NO. 126-84 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, McBride, Salmon, Wendling AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries of the annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Police of the Department of Public Safety, except the Chief of Police, effective January 1, 1985, and repealing all other ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent therewith. WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the usual daily operation of a municipal department in that in the interests of the public welfare and safety it is necessary to create positions and fix the compensation of employees; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the compensation of the annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Police, Department of Public Safety, with the exception of the Chief of Police, shall be as follows effective January l, 1985, pursuant to the terms of the agreement between the City of Lakewood and Western Cuyahoga Lodge No. 25, Fraternal Order of Police, Lakewood Division: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY - DIVISION OF POLICE RANK Captain $39,532.01 Lieutenant 34,984.08 Sergeant 31,803.71 Police Officer Detective/Investigator Investigator Safety Education Officer Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade 3 28,912.47 28,642.26 27,831.63 27,021.00 25,466.00 21,191.00 Juvenile Investigator Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade 3 28,642.26 25,466.00 21,191.00 Section 2. In the Division of Police, Department of Public Safety, Grade 1 patrolmen shall consist of patrolmen who have continuously served in the Division of Police two (2) full years or who, in the judgment of the Director of Public Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired experience in the Division of Police in some other City. Grade 2 patrolmen shall consist of patrolmen who have continuously served in the Division of Police for more than one (1) year but less then two (2) years. Grade 3 patrolmen shall consist of patrolmen who have served in the Division of Police for less than one (1) year. Provided, however, that there shall be no increase in salary to any employee by reason of the said grouping until certified by the Director of Public Safety. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
