ORDINANCE NO. 126-84 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries of the <br />annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Police of the Department of <br />Public Safety, except the Chief of Police, effective January 1, 1985, and <br />repealing all other ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent therewith. <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department in that in the <br />interests of the public welfare and safety it is necessary to create positions <br />and fix the compensation of employees; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the compensation of the <br /> annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Police, Department of Public <br /> Safety, with the exception of the Chief of Police, shall be as follows <br /> effective January l, 1985, pursuant to the terms of the agreement between the <br /> City of Lakewood and Western Cuyahoga Lodge No. 25, Fraternal Order of Police, <br /> Lakewood Division: <br /> <br /> DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY - DIVISION OF POLICE <br /> <br />RANK <br /> <br />Captain $39,532.01 <br />Lieutenant 34,984.08 <br />Sergeant 31,803.71 <br /> <br />Police Officer <br /> Detective/Investigator <br /> Investigator <br /> Safety Education Officer <br /> Grade 1 <br /> Grade 2 <br /> Grade 3 <br /> <br />28,912.47 <br />28,642.26 <br />27,831.63 <br />27,021.00 <br />25,466.00 <br />21,191.00 <br /> <br />Juvenile Investigator <br /> Grade 1 <br /> Grade 2 <br /> Grade 3 <br /> <br />28,642.26 <br />25,466.00 <br />21,191.00 <br /> <br /> Section 2. In the Division of Police, Department of Public Safety, <br />Grade 1 patrolmen shall consist of patrolmen who have continuously served in <br />the Division of Police two (2) full years or who, in the judgment of the <br />Director of Public Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired <br />experience in the Division of Police in some other City. Grade 2 patrolmen <br />shall consist of patrolmen who have continuously served in the Division of <br />Police for more than one (1) year but less then two (2) years. Grade 3 <br />patrolmen shall consist of patrolmen who have served in the Division of Police <br />for less than one (1) year. Provided, however, that there shall be no increase <br />in salary to any employee by reason of the said grouping until certified by the <br />Director of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of <br />this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were <br />adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of <br />this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, <br />were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements <br />including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br /> <br /> <br />
