ORDINANCE N0.97-85 BY: Gallagher, Graham, McBride, <br /> Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor, for and on behalf of <br />the City df Lakewood to accept as a gift to the City of Lakewood the sum of <br />$25,000 from the Cotabash Charitable TruSt for the purchase of two station <br />wagons for the Department on Aging and authorizing the Director of Public <br />Works to enter into a contract to purchase same. <br /> WHEREAS, Cotabash Charitable Trust has awarded a grant in the <br />amount of $25,000 to the Lakewood Department on Aging for the purpose of <br />expanding the escort service program of the Department on Aging for the <br />senior.citizens of Lakewood, and <br /> WHEREAS, such grant is to be used specifically to purchase two <br /> station wagons for said escort service program, and <br /> WHEREAS, the purchase of said vehicles should be aCComplished <br /> through the Public Works Department of the City of Lakewood, and <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance consitutes an emergency measure providing <br /> for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and <br /> directed to accept as a gift to the City of Lakewood from the Cotabash <br /> Charitable Trust the sum of $25,000 which funds are to be used specifically <br /> by the City to purchase, two station wagons for use in the escort service <br /> program of the Department of Aging. <br /> Section 2. That the Director of Public Works be, and he is hereby <br /> authorized and directed to enter into a contract for the purchase of two <br /> station wagons for the Office on Aging with the lowest and best bidder after <br /> advertising according to law at a cost not to exceed $25,000. <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of <br /> this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were <br /> adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations <br /> of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal <br /> actions were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal <br /> requirements including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br /> Section 4. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br /> emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided <br /> it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to <br /> Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption <br /> and approval by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force <br /> after the earliest period allowed by law. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br /> <br />
