ORDINANCE NO. 60-86 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries <br />of the annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Fire of the <br />Department of Public Safety except the Fire Chief, effective January <br />1, 1986, and repealing all other ordinances or parts of ordinances <br />inconsistent therewith., <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department <br />in that in the interest of public service, welfare and safety, it <br />is necessary to fix the compensation of employees; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEW00D, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the <br />compensation of annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division <br />of Fire with the exception of the Chief of Fire shall be as <br />follows effective Janaury 1, 1986, pursuant to the terms of the <br />agreement between the City of Lakewood and Local #382 of the <br />International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CI0: <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT 0F PUBLIC SAFETY - DIVISION OF FIRE <br /> <br />RANK <br /> <br />Assistant Fire Chiefs <br />Fire Captains <br />Fire Marshal <br /> <br />$38,944.98 <br /> 33,865.20 <br /> 33,865.20 <br /> <br />Fire Fighters <br /> Detailed as Fire Inspector <br /> Detailed as Electrician/ <br /> Mechanic <br /> Grade 1 <br /> Grade 2 <br /> Grade 3 <br /> <br />(22,606 to 31,043) <br />31,043 <br /> <br />31,043 <br />28,221 <br />26,513 <br />22,606 <br /> <br /> Section 2. In the Division of ~ire, Department of Public <br />Safety, Grade 1 Fire Fighters shall consist of fire fighters who have <br />continuously served in the Division of Fire two (2) full years or who, <br />in the judgment of the Director of Public Safety, have acquired <br />equivalent training and acquired experience in the Division of Fire in <br />some other City. Grade 2 Fire Fighters shall consist of Fire Fighters <br />who have served continuously in the Division of Fire for more than one <br />(1) year, but less than two (2) years. Grade 3 Fire Fighters shall <br />consist of fire fighters who have served in the Division of Fire for <br />less than one (1) year. Provided, however, that there shall be no <br />increase in salary to a fire fighter by reason of said grouping until <br />certified by the Director of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> Section 3. Firefighters who are accepted for employment with <br />the Division of Fire having experience with Fire Departments in other <br />communities are certified as Fire Fighters Grade 1, shall be hired at <br />the grade of Fire Fighter Grade 3, and will serve in that group for a <br />period not less than six (6) months. After that time, they shall be <br />promoted to Grade 2 upon recommendation of the Fire Chief, and serve <br />in Grade 2 for a period of not less than 18 months. After such time, <br />they shall be promoted to Grade 1 upon recommendation of the Fire <br />Chief. <br /> <br /> <br />
