<br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries
<br />of the annual salaried Sworn personnel in the Division of Police in
<br />the Department of Public Safety except the Police Chief, effective
<br />January I, 1987, and repealing all other' ordinances or parts of
<br />ordinances inconsistent therewith.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure
<br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety,
<br />and welfare, and for the usual daily operation of a municipal
<br />department ~n that in the interest of the public welfare and safety,
<br />it is n~cèssary to create positions and fix the compensation employees;
<br />now, therefore,

<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE
<br />
<br />Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the compensation
<br />of the annual salaried, sworn personnel in the Division of POlice,
<br />Department of Public Safety, with the exception of the Chief of
<br />Policel shall be as follows effective January I, 1987, pursuant to the
<br />terms of the agreement between the City of Lakewood and Western
<br />Cuyahoga Lodge No. 25, Fraternal Order of POlice, Lakewood Division,
<br />effective January I, 1987 through December 31, 1987.

<br />Section 2. In the Division of POlice, Department of Public
<br />Safety, Grade 1 Patrolmen shall consist of Patrolmen who have
<br />continuously served in the Division of Police two (2) full years or
<br />who, in the jUdgment of the Director of Public Safety, . have acquired
<br />equivalent training and acquired experience in the Division of Police
<br />in some other City. Grade 2 Patrolmen shall consist of Patrolmen who
<br />have served continuously in the Division of Police for more than one
<br />(1) year but less than two (2) years. Grade 3 Patrolmen shall consist
<br />of Patrolmen who have served in the Division of Police for less than
<br />one (1) year. Provided, however, that there shall be no increase in
<br />salary to any employee by reason of the said grouping until certified
<br />by the Director of Public Safety.
