ORDINANCE NO. 51-87 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, <br />Graham, McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE approving a Collective Bargaining <br />Agreement with Ohio Council 8 and Local 1043 of the~.~~an <br />Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees ....... ~F_/~IO, <br />establishing conditions of employment, wOrking conditions and--9-arious <br />benefits for Matron Dispatchers of the Division of Police of the City <br />of Lakewood, and authorizing the Mayor to sign said Agreement on <br />behalf of the city~. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a prior Collective Bargaining Agreement entered <br />into between the City of Lakewood and Ohio Council 8 and Local 1043 of <br />the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL- <br />CIO, terminated on February 28, 1987, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, discussions and negotiations have been continued <br />subsequent on behalf of the City with representatives of Local Union <br />1043 and Ohio Council 8 with respect to conditions of employment, <br />working conditions and various benefits for Matron Dispatchers of the <br />Division of Police of the City of Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an agreement has been reached in the course of said <br />discussions and negotiations with respect to the conditions of <br />employment, working conditions and various benefits for certain <br />employees aforementioned, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines that it is in the best <br />interest of the City to approve said Collective Bargaining Agreement <br />and authorize the Mayor to sign same on behalf of the City of <br />Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety <br />and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal <br />department and further for the reason that it is necessary to approve <br />said Agreement at the eariest possible time; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br /> <br />OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section !. That the Collective Bargaining Agreement with <br />Ohio Council 8 and Local 1043 of te American Federation of State, <br />County and Municipal Employees ALF-CIO, effective for the period of <br />March 1, 1987, through February 28, 1990, an original copy of which is <br />on file in the Office of the Mayor of the City of Lakewood and is made <br />a part hereof as though written fully herein, is hereby adopted, <br />ratified and approved and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed <br />for and on behalf of the City of Lakewood to affix his signature <br />thereto. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That all other ordinances or resolutions or <br />parts of ordinances or resolutions which are inconsistent with the <br />provisions of this ordinance and/or the Collective Bargaining <br />Agreement made a part hereof, are hereby repealed as of March 1, 1987, <br />to the extent that they pertain to the employees in the bargaining <br />unit covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement and are <br />inconsistent with this ordinance, including the Collective Bargaining <br />Agreement referred to herein and made a part hereof. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br />all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the <br />public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> <br />
