ORDINANCE NO. 84-87 <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />Brown, Gallagher, Graham, McBride, <br /> Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor to advertise for bids and <br />to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder after <br />advertisement according to law for the purchase of Hepatitis B vaccine. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council has been advised that there are between 500,000 and <br />1,000,000 people in the United States who are infected with the disease <br />Hepatitis B, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (A.I.D.S.) has become the <br />subject of great concern and controversy in our society, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said communicable diseases are of great concern to members of <br />Lakewood's safety forces in the administration of their duties, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the usual daily operation of a municipal department and for the immediate <br />preservation of the public safety and welfare; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and directed <br />to advertise for bids and to enter into a contract with the lowest and <br />best bidder after advertisement according to law for the purchase of <br />Hepatitis B vaccine. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the cost of such purchase is estimated to total <br />$25,000, which funds are to be made available from the General Fund. <br /> <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were <br />adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such <br />deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted <br />in such formal actions, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance <br />with all legal requirements. <br /> <br />Section 4.
