ORDINANCE NO. 3-88 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gal lagher, Gazzana, George, Graham, Wendling AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries of the annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Fire of the Department of Public Safety except the Fire Chief, effective January l, 1968, and repealing all other ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent therewith. WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department in that in the interest of public service, welfare and safety, it is necessary to fix the compensation of employees; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OF OHIO: STATE Section ~. Positions are hereby created and the compensation of annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Fire with the exception of the Chief of Fire shall be as follows effective January l, 1988, pursuant to the terms of the agreement between the City of Lakewood and Local #S82 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY - DIVISION OF FIRE RANK Assistant Fire Chiefs Fire Captains Fire Marshal $~2,256.98 36,745.20 86,745.20 Fire Fighters Detailed as Fire Inspector Detailed as Electrician/ Mechanic Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade 3 (25,006.00-33,683. i0) 33,603.10 33,683.[0 30,621.00 28,9~3.00 25,006.00 Section 2. In the Division of Fire, Department of Public Safety, Grade ! Fi~e Fighters shall consist of fire fighters who have continuously served in the Division of Fire two (2) full years or who, in the Judgment of the Director of Public Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired experiertce in the Division of Fire in some other City. Grade 2 Fire Fighters shall consist of Fire Fighters who have served continuously in the Division of Fire for more than one (1) year, but less than two (2) years. Grade 3 Fire Fighters shall consist of fire fighters who have served in the Division of Fire for less than one (~) year. Provided, however, that there shall be no increase in salary to a fire fighter by reason of said grouping until certified by the Director of Public Safety. Section 3. Firefighters who are accepted for employment with the Division of Fire havfn~ experience with Fire Departments in other communities are certified as Fire Fighters Grade l, shall be hired at the grade of Fire Fighter Grade ~, and wi[! serve in that group for a period not less than six (6) months. After that time, they shall be promoted to Grade 2 upon recommendation of the Fire Chief, and serve in Grade 2 for a period of not less than 16 months. After such time, they shall be promoted to Grade I upon recommendation of the Fire Chief.
