" ' <br /> Placed on Second Reading as amended on May 16, 1988. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 36-88 <br /> <br /> BY: Councilman Chinnock <br />Brown, Gallagher, Gazzana, George, Graham, <br />Wendl lng <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to supplement the General <br />O~fenses Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood <br />by enacting new Chapter 506 to regulate dangerous animals and <br />vicious animals and repealing Section 505.17 of the General <br />Offenses Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of <br />Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines that dangerous animals <br />in the City shall be controlled, and vicious animals in the City <br />shall be destroyed. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency <br />measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public <br />safety and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a <br />municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The General Offenses Code of the Codified <br />Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, is hereby supplemented by <br />enacting new Chapter 506 to read as follows: <br /> <br /> CHAPTER 506 <br /> <br />Dangerous Animals and Vicious Animals <br /> <br />506.01 <br /> <br />UNLAUFUL TO KEEP DANGEROUS ANIMALS OR VICIOUS <br />ANIMALS. <br /> <br /> No person shall keep, harbor or own any dangerous <br />animal or vicious animal within the City, except in accordance <br />with Chapter 506. <br /> <br />506.02 UNLAWFUL TO KEEP OR TRAIN ANIMALS FOR FIGHTING. <br /> <br /> No person shall keep, harbor or own any animal for <br />the purpose of fighting, or train any animal for the purpose of <br />causing or encouraging such animal to make unprovoked attacks, <br />cause injury, or otherwise threaten the safety of human beings <br />or domestic animals. <br /> <br /> 506.03 UNLAWFUL TO SELL, BREED, OR BUY VICIOUS ANIMALS. <br /> <br /> No person shall possess with intent to sell, offer <br />for sale, breed, buy, or attempt to buy a vicious animal within <br />the City. <br /> <br />506.04 <br /> (a) <br /> <br />DANGEROUS ANIMALS AND VICIOUS ANIMALS. <br /> <br />An animal is deemed to be a dangerous animal when <br />it: <br /> <br /> (1) has without provocation caused serious injury <br /> to a human being or domestic animal, or <br /> <br /> <br />
