Placed On First Reading orW~$~ln~ba~y.~l,6, 1989 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1-89 BY: <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor ex-officio.Director of <br />Public Safety to enter into contract for the purchase of seven new motor vehicles <br />for the Division of Police, Department of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Resolution No. 6300-88, Adopted November 7, 1988 and approved <br />November 8, 1988 authorized and directed the Mayor ex-officio Director of Public <br />Safety to advertise for bids for new motor vehicles for the Division of Police <br />Department of Public Safety, and ' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, present motor vehicles in the Division of Police are of such <br />age and condition as to require the replacement of seven Police vehicles, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Control has reviewed the bids received and has <br />determined that it is in the best interest of the City to award the contract to <br />Major Chevrolet, 34-14 Steinway Street, Long Island, New York, the lowest and <br />best bid, and <br /> <br /> 'WHEREAS, this ordinance constWtutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the immediate preservation of public safety and welfare and for the usual daily <br />operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor ex-officio Director of Public Safety be and <br />he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Major Chevrolet, <br />34-14 Steinway Street, Long Island, New York, for the purchase of seven motor <br />vehicles plus related equipment for the Division of Police. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The cost of seven new Police motor vehicles shall be paid <br />from the Capital Improvement Fund. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in <br />an open meeting of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action, were meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal <br />requirements'. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure for reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor; <br />otherwise it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed <br />by law. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Approved:~'~~ ~'. ~'~' <br /> <br />C1 erk ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
