ORDINANCE NO. 64-89 <br /> <br />BY:Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, <br />Gazzana, George, Graham, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Mayor, <br />on behalf of the City of Lakewood, to enter into an extension of the <br />contract with the Lakewood Board of Education which created a Lakewood <br />Child Care Services Director pursuant to Ordinance 49-88, for a period <br />not to exceed fifteen months terminating on December 31, 1990. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, our children are our most precious asset and <br />assistance in providing quality child care facilities and programs is <br />an essential element of the preservation of the future of our <br />community, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, <br />and welfare, and <br /> <br />measure <br /> safety <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor, on behalf of the City of <br />Lakewood be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an <br />agreement extending the existing contract with the Lakewood Board of <br />Education for the establishment of the office of Lakewood Child Care <br />Services Director, said contract to contain the same provisions as <br />those presently existing save for the termination date and the amount <br />of funding by the City and such other terms and conditions as in the <br />judgment of the Director of Law are necessary for the clarification of <br />the rights, responsibilities and legal relationship of the parties. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That said extension shall contain the following <br />specific provisions and/or terms: <br /> <br />That the contract is initially extended through <br />December 31, 1989, with additional funding in the year <br />1989, not to exceed Ten Thousand One Hundred <br />($10,100.00) Dollars, but which represents the actual <br />cost for the period September 1, 1989, to December 31, <br />1989 for the office of Lakewood Child Care Services <br />Director. <br /> <br />That the extension agreement contain a provision <br />allowing termination of the Agreement effective <br />December 31, 1989, if Council elects not to fund said <br />office in the temporary appropriations ordinance <br />adopted in 1989 for the first quarter of 1990 or <br />effective March 31, 1990, if Council elects not to fund <br />said office for the balance of 1990 in the final <br />appropriations ordinance enacted for the fiscal year <br />1990. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br />all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the <br />public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> <br />
