ORDINANCE NO-67-89 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gazzana, <br /> George, Graham, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE approving a collective bargaining <br />agreement with Local #382, International Association of Fire Fighters, <br />AFL--CIO, establishing conditions of employment, working conditions and <br />various benefits for certain employees of the Department of Public <br />Safety of the City of Lakewood, and authorizing the Mayor to sign said <br />agreement on behalf of the city. <br /> WHEREAS, a prior collective bargaining agreement entered into <br />between the City of Lakewood and Local #382, International Association <br />of Fire Fighters, AFL--CIO, terminated on December 31, 1988, and <br />WHEREAS, discussions and negotiations have been continued <br />subsequently on behalf of the city with representatives of Local #382, <br />International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL--CIO, with respect to <br />conditions of employment, working conditions, and various' benefits for <br /> certain employees of the Department of Public Safety of the city of <br /> Lakewood, and <br /> WHEREAS, agreement has been reached in the course of said <br /> discussions and negotiations with respect to the conditions of <br /> employment, working conditions and various benefits for certain <br /> employees aforementioned, and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines that it is in the best <br /> interest of the City to approve said collective bargaining agreement <br /> and authorize the Mayor to sign same on behalf of the city, and <br /> WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br /> providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety <br /> and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal <br /> department, and for the further reason that it is necessary to approve <br /> said agreement at the earliest possible time; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That the collective bargaining agreement with <br /> Local #382, International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL--CIO, and <br /> effective for the period of January 1, 1989 to December 31, 1991, an <br /> original copy of which is on file in the office of the Mayor of the <br /> City of Lakewood and is made a part hereof as though written fully <br /> herein, is hereby adopted, ratified and approved, and the Mayor is <br /> hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City of <br /> Lakewood to affix his signature thereto.. <br /> Section 2. That all other ordinances or resolutions or parts <br /> of ordinances or resolutions which are inconsistent with the <br /> provisions of this Ordinance and/or the collective bargaining <br /> agreement made a part hereof, are hereby repealed as of January 1, <br /> 1989, to the extent that they pertain to the employees in the <br /> bargaining unit covered by the collective bargaining agreement and are <br /> inconsistent with this Ordinance, including the collective bargaining <br /> agreement referred to herein and made a part hereof. <br /> <br /> <br />
