Flannery, <br />George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE <br />Chapter 1304 of the Building Code <br />the City of Lakewood providing <br />materials and installatîons. <br /> <br />to <br />of <br />for <br /> <br />amend Section 1304.01 of <br />the Codified Ordinances of <br />standards for electrical <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 1993 National Electrical Code has been <br />amended, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of <br />the City of Lakewood that Chapter 1304 of the Building Code öf <br />the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood be amended tö the <br />1996 National Electrical Code, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency <br />measure providing for the preservation of the public health, <br />safety and welfare, for the reason that the National Electrical <br />Codet as amended, will go into effect on January 1, 1996 and such <br />amendments should be adopted and become effective by that date; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That Section 1304.01 of Chapter 1304 of the <br />Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the Ci'ty of Lakewood <br />now reading as follows: <br /> <br />1304.01 ADOPTION; IDENTITY AND PURPOSE <br /> <br />Pursuant to the provisions of Ohio R.C. 731.231, the <br />National Electrical Code, being particularly the 1993 edition <br />thereo£, designated ANSljNFPA No. 70-1993, is hereby adopted by <br />the City and incorporated by reference as a part of the Building <br />Code of the City of Lakewood as if fully set out herein, except <br />such provisions as are, hereinafter amended, enacted or deleted. <br />The purpose of a National Electrical Code as adopted herein: is <br />the practical safeguarding of persons, buildings and dwellings, <br />and their contents from hazards arising from the use of <br />electricity for heat, light and power and for other purposes. <br /> <br />shall be and the same is herèby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />1304.01 ADOPTION; IDENTITY AND PURPOSE. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the provisions of Ohio R.C. 731.231, the <br />National Electrical Code, being particularly the 1996 edition <br />thereof, designated ANSljNFPA No. 70-1996, is hereby adopted by <br />the City and incorporated by reference as a part of the B~ilding <br />Code of the City of Lakewood as if fully set out herein, except <br />such provisions as are, hereinafter amended, enacted or deleted. <br />The purpose of a National Electrical Code as adopted herein is <br />the practical safeguarding of persons, buildings and dwellings, <br />and their contents from hazards arising from the use of <br />electricity for heat, light and power and for other purposes. <br /> <br />Section 2. That this ordinance is hereby declared to <br />be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble <br />hereof and provided it recei ves the affirmati ve vote of <br />two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval <br />by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force <br />after the earliest period allowed by law. <br /> <br />1 <br />
